Round 5 began with AFC Blue Boys versus Hosting Threesams. AFC Blue Boys were in a three-horse race for the 2 Cup qualification spots. Hobbema's had completed their group fixtures with 12 points and were through. AFC Blue Boys could still win the group (on goal difference) if they won their final two games. They were, more realistically, in a bilateral clash with VK Dons and had to better the English team's results in this final round.

With Argon'ze B's defeat in the previous game Hosting Threesams were through to the Plate. With the pressure off, Hosting Threesams seized the initiative early in the game, with Sam Treon scoring the opening goal to give the English team a 1-0 lead by halftime. The goal put AFC Blue Boys under pressure as they looked to mount a comeback in the second half.

However, Oliver Cobb proved to be the hero for Hosting Threesams in the second half, scoring two goals to extend their lead to 3-0 by the final whistle. Cobb's clinical finishing dealt a significant blow to AFC Blue Boys' hopes of advancing to the Cup phase of the tournament. The result was a major setback for AFC Blue Boys, who now faced an uphill battle in their remaining matches to secure their position in the tournament. Hosting Threesams, on the other hand, celebrated a well-deserved victory that would give them momentum as they advanced into the Plate.

The penultimate game of Group B was VK Dons versus Mironeers. With AFC Blue Boys defeat in the previous game this was a great opportunity for VK Dons to take a big step forward to the Cup. Mironeers were still in the equation for Cup qualification themselves. If they could win this game and AFC Blue Boys drew with VK Dons in the final game of the group then Mironeers would make it a Dutch double in the Cup from Group B.

VK Dons started strongly, taking the lead early in the game through Jake Brittain's goal to make it 1-0. However, Mironeers responded swiftly, with Hung Lee equalizing to level the score at 1-1. The back-and-forth action continued as VK Dons regained their lead with Scott Harrington finding the net, making it 2-1 at halftime.

In the second half, Mironeers showed their determination, with Kachi Ukoh stepping up to score the equalizer, leveling the match at 2-2. Ukoh, who had scored five goals in his first two games but had been silent since, delivered a crucial goal to keep Mironeers' hopes alive.

As the game approached its conclusion, VK Dons pushed forward in search of a winner, and it was William Hick who found the decisive goal late in the match, securing a 3-2 victory for VK Dons. Hick's late strike was not only vital in this game but also potentially sealed VK Dons' qualification to the Cup phase of the tournament (though it was not a done deal).

Mironeers defeat confirmed they would be playing in the Plate this afternoon.

So, the last game on the field in Group B would be a fantastic climax to the league table. We had AFC Blue Boys versus VK Dons in direct competition for the second Cup qualification place. VK Dons were in pole position as they had a three point advantage over their Polish rivals. Only a win would be good enough for AFC Blue Boys but, not only that, they needed a two goal win to overturn the goal difference advantage that VK Dons currently had, +5 compared with +2.

AFC Blue Boys had made a superb start today with 5-1 and 5-2 wins and they looked like tournament favourites at that stage but since then two defeats had threatened their Cup qualification hopes. Things continued to go against the Polish side as it was VK Dons who struck first. Jake Brittain scored for the second game running. The pressure was really on AFC Blue Boys now but they were level when Jakub Zadykowicz scored his second of the tournament. William Hick's goal restored the lead for VK Dons and they lead 2-1 at the change of ends.

AFC Blue Boys had a massive half of football ahead of them. They needed 3 goals without reply to reach the Cup. It began well with Michal Cedrowski scoring his 9th of the tournament to make the game 2-2. Artur Sukiennik then scored to make it 3-2 and set-up a grandstand finale. Although they were winning the game, VK Dons were winning the race to a Cup. Qualification was still on a knife-edge. Another goal and AFC Blue Boys would progress. If VK Dons could grab an equalizer they'd break Polish hearts. The other factor was Old father Time who was on VK Dons side if there was to be no further goals.

When the referee blew for full-time the score remained at 3-2. It was reminiscent of Liverpool v Blackburn at Anfield in 1995 when Liverpool won the game but Blackburn celebrated as they'd win the Premier League (due to West Ham holding Man Utd). Here, AFC Blue Boys had won the game but VK Dons could celebrate reaching the Cup.
