The
penultimate game of Group A featured a high-stakes
encounter between Shaheens United and Jamaica
Bell. Jamaica Bell, leading the group and aiming
to secure their place at the top, faced Shaheens
United, who needed a positive result to advance
in the competition.
Jamaica
Bell quickly asserted their dominance as Leo
Thom opened the scoring, showcasing their intent
and setting the tempo for the game. However,
Shaheens United responded swiftly as Omar Shoaib,
scoring in every group game, equalized to level
the score at 1-1, demonstrating their resilience
and determination.
Leo
Thom once again put Jamaica Bell in front with
another well-taken goal, giving them a 2-1 lead
at halftime. The first half concluded with Jamaica
Bell holding a narrow advantage. The second
half witnessed a flurry of goals as both teams
fought vigorously for victory. Leroy Cheng scored
to equalize for Shaheens United, reigniting
hopes of a comeback. Nonetheless, Jamaica Bell
responded decisively with Robbie Stanforth finding
the net twice to extend their lead to 4-2. Shaheens
United continued to battle courageously, with
Leroy Cheng narrowing the deficit to 4-3, keeping
the contest intense. Jamaica Bell maintained
their unbeaten run and secured their 4 th win
in 5 games as Sam Jackson sealed the deal with
a late goal, securing a 5-3 triumph for his
team.
The final
whistle confirmed a 5-3 victory for Jamaica
Bell and confirmed they would win Group A. Huge
congratulations to them on debut. In contrast,
Shaheens United, champions of the 2023 Amsterdam
Sixes, suffered an unexpected exit from the
2024 Amsterdam Fives at the conclusion of the
group phase, echoing the early elimination experienced
by FC Kicks who won the 2022 Amsterdam Fives
but then went out early in the Sixes – showing
the different skills required at the different
disciplines within small-sided football.
