The penultimate game of Group A featured a high-stakes encounter between Shaheens United and Jamaica Bell. Jamaica Bell, leading the group and aiming to secure their place at the top, faced Shaheens United, who needed a positive result to advance in the competition.

Jamaica Bell quickly asserted their dominance as Leo Thom opened the scoring, showcasing their intent and setting the tempo for the game. However, Shaheens United responded swiftly as Omar Shoaib, scoring in every group game, equalized to level the score at 1-1, demonstrating their resilience and determination.

Leo Thom once again put Jamaica Bell in front with another well-taken goal, giving them a 2-1 lead at halftime. The first half concluded with Jamaica Bell holding a narrow advantage. The second half witnessed a flurry of goals as both teams fought vigorously for victory. Leroy Cheng scored to equalize for Shaheens United, reigniting hopes of a comeback. Nonetheless, Jamaica Bell responded decisively with Robbie Stanforth finding the net twice to extend their lead to 4-2. Shaheens United continued to battle courageously, with Leroy Cheng narrowing the deficit to 4-3, keeping the contest intense. Jamaica Bell maintained their unbeaten run and secured their 4 th win in 5 games as Sam Jackson sealed the deal with a late goal, securing a 5-3 triumph for his team.

The final whistle confirmed a 5-3 victory for Jamaica Bell and confirmed they would win Group A. Huge congratulations to them on debut. In contrast, Shaheens United, champions of the 2023 Amsterdam Sixes, suffered an unexpected exit from the 2024 Amsterdam Fives at the conclusion of the group phase, echoing the early elimination experienced by FC Kicks who won the 2022 Amsterdam Fives but then went out early in the Sixes – showing the different skills required at the different disciplines within small-sided football.

 
 
 

To conclude Group A we had Tilbury Douglas v Riises Pieces. Tilbury Douglas had 3 draws in 4 games which had stunted their climb up the table. However, a 4th draw would see them progress to the next phase on goal difference. Riises Pieces already knew this game would be their last match in the Fives tournament but could they finish off in style with a win?

Riise's Pieces started brightly as Michal Woyton opened the scoring in the first half, giving them an early lead and demonstrating their intent to finish their campaign with a flourish. However, Tilbury Douglas responded swiftly, with Josh park equalizing and then Ross Waistell putting his team ahead to make it 2-1 by halftime.

The second half saw Tilbury Douglas continue their attacking momentum, with Josh Park extending their lead to 3-1 and then completing his hat-trick to further solidify their advantage. Park's clinical finishing and determination were instrumental in securing this victory for Tilbury Douglas.

The match concluded with Tilbury Douglas sealing a convincing 4-1 victory, a result that not only secured their progression to the Plate phase of the tournament but marked their first win. It must have been a relief to get over the line after so many draws.

It was game over for Riises Pieces in the Fives but they continued their campaign in the Sevens.
