We started Round 3 of Group A with Pimp My Side FC meeting El A Dees. We were a little surprised to see that Pimp My Side FC had only collected 1 point from a possible 6 thus far such has been the high standard of their performance in previous tournaments. Group A was looking an evenly match and tough group though.

El A Dees had fared better thus far with 4 points from a possible 6 and were joint top. They also came into the game on the back of a eurofootballfives.com group phase record of 4 wins, 2 draws, 0 defeats and at half-time that unbeaten record was still intact as we reached the turnaround level at 0-0.

At full time that record had gone though as Pimp My Side FC pulled out their best performance of the day thus far with a 2-1 victory. The goals that put them on their way to victory were both scored by Mark Halling. For El A Dees it was a fourth goal of the day for Oliver Wood but this one would merely be a consolation.

It was a great result for Pimp My Side FC which really tightened up Group A. They were now in 5th but level on points with the top side.

How would Drum Major FC fare in their third game? They had 2 draws in 2 matches so far so the smart money we guess would be on another draw. Although draws were ok they were treading water a little bit in Group A and a win would see them surge to the top of the Group A standings. For Room 20, they had just recorded their first win of the day and another would do them just nicely and also see them jump to the top of the table.

It was honours even at half-time as the teams shared a goal each – Danny Harris on target for Drum Major FC and Harry Jarrett finding the net for Room 20. Could we find a winner in the second period?

It was still honours even at full-time as the teams shared two goals each after the break. Danny Harris made it a goal in each half for him personally after Robbie Norris scored his first of the day for Drum Major FC. Jon Jagger and David Bland scored the goals for Room 20 that saw them go joint top on 4 points. Drum Major FC sat hust one point off top on 3 points but in 6th place…incredible how tight this Group was.

The final game of Round 3 saw an all-Dutch encounter between CEPL and Wilhelmus. CEPL would go into the game as favourites having a win and a draw under their belts and Wilhelmus had just suffered defeat. Momentum can mean a lot in our tournaments and it was certainly with CEPL who grabbed a late equalizer in their last match which would mean they would enter this game on a high.

If Group A had shown us anything it was that there was very little between those teams at the top and the bottom and anyone was capable of beating anyone else. Half-time in this one would be testimony to that as we the two sides were locked together at 1-1. It was a game for the number 11's as CEPL's number 11 Krysztof Szwagrzyk found the net as did Michael Sanderson in the number 11 shirt for Wilhelmus.

We were to see a winner in this game and it was the number 11 who scored the third and decisive goal in the game….but which number 11? Well, it was Sanderson wearing the number 11 shirt for Wilhelmus that secured all three points for his team and grabbed their first victory of the day.

It meant Wilhelmus moved on to four points and we had an unbelievable 5-team tie at the top of Group A and there was only 1 point between all six teams. We have never had a group as tight as this – it was fascinating stuff and so much to play for with the teams having just two group games left to decide their fate in this tournament.
