Portugal claim first ever home victory at Algarve Open

Since the Algarve Open took over from the Albufeira Fives / Premiership In...Portugal events in 2009 there had never been a home winner .... until now! At the sixth attempt Stand Cristina broke the deadlock and took victory. They defeated fellow home team Water Boy in the Cup Final.

There was double success for Portugal as they also picked up a victory in the Plate competition. Water Boy were unable to defend their Plate title after promotion to the Cup and so it was 11 Esperancas Faz Clube who took the vacant crown. They defeated England's Far Out FC 1-0 in the Final.

The personal honours of the day went to England as Joe Bardwell claimed the top goalscorer prize with 8 goals in 6 games. This was his second such award after being crowned 2012 Berlin Fives top goalscorer.
