The first Semi-Final would see Water Boy of Portugal take on Scoregasm of England. Both teams had been in eurofootballfives.com Cup Semi-Finals before – Water Boy here in the Algarve Open in 2011 and 2012, Scoregams in the 2011 Mallorca Tournament. In all those 3 Semi-Finals neither team had managed to progress to the Cup Final. For one of these teams that duck would be broken.

With the game underway it was looking like there was very little to separate the two teams. The game was a very even contest with nothing in it all. The match was very much being played in the middle of the field with little by way of clear cut opportunities. It was perhaps no surprise then that we reached half-time at 0-0.

It would not remain 0-0 until the end of the fixture and we would have a winner. The pattern of the game in the second period followed pretty much the same path as the opening half. There would be one moment to divide the teams and that would be a strike from Victor Reis – his second of the day and arguably most valuable. The game finished 1-0 and it was Water Boy who would progress.

Scoregasm were out and had come so close to a European Cup Final. In the 2011 Mallorca Tournament they finished as the joint best English team in the competition and they went further than any English team here today – maybe some consolation. It was our pleasure to see Scoregasm on tour again and maybe it will be 3rd time lucky should they have another crack at European glory.

The second Cup Semi-Final was between Mini FC and Stand Cristina. Mini FC was on a roll and were unbeaten at this stage of the competition taking 13 points out of a possible 15. Stand Cristina were also unbeaten but 3 draws in 5 games meant their return was 9 points from 15. They had been strong defensively but had struggled to show that ruthless cutting edge at the other end of the pitch.

We started off in free flowing fashion with three goals in the opening period and Mini FC would be cursing the fact that they let lightning strike twice. On two separate occasions Dani broke free of the Mini FC defence. On both occasions he was found by a team-mate and on both occasions he showed great poise to coolly slot the ball home past the advancing goalkeeper. The goals were practically identical. A fifth goal of the day for Nelio Guerreiro kept Mini FC in the hunt at 2-1.

After the break Stand Cristina showed the defensive form that had seen them only concede two goals in the tournament before this game. Mini FC had scored 10 goals today but would not increase their tally as Stand Cristina stood firm to see out the victory and book their place in the Cup Final.

The day was over for Mini FC who had a made a superb debut in our tournaments. We thank them for their participation.
