At the start of Round 3, Stand Cristina who had yet to score in the tournament, got off to a flyer with an early goal against Far Out FC. Telmo put his team 1-0 up and if they could keep up their record of not conceding would be on their way to their first win of the day though.

In Far Out FC though we had a team who, as Bafta Boys last year, were the 2013 Algarve Open's highest scoring team in the group phase and overall. If anyone was likely to breach the Stand Cristina defence it was them….and so it proved. 2012 Berlin Fives top goalscorer Joe Bardwell was the man to pull Far Out FC level. Half-time, 1-1.

After the re-start it was the Portuguese team who came closest to scoring as Dani hit the post from a free-kick and then Anibal also saw a chance hit the post as the game drew to a conclusion. There was to be no further addition to the score though and the game finished 1-1.

It was a third successive draw for Stand Cristina who would need to start winning soon. The point for Far Out FC put them out in front (temporarily at least).

Next up would have been Sol Y Sombra versus Futeboladas FC but as we now know the Spanish team had withdrawn from the competition. Futeboladas FC would collect their 3 points for the 3-0 walkover.

The points adjusted their league position to see them sitting in 3rd place at the end of Round 3.

The two results above meant that it was 2nd placed Water Boy against 5 th placed AC Richmond in the final fixture of Round 3. If Water Boy could claim victory they would move to the top of Group A. For AC Richmond it was a chance to build upon their point in the last game and move up the table if they could find their first victory of the day.

It did not start well for AC Richmond though. They pushed forward but forgot to shut up shop at the back as Bernardino Agostinho hit them with a quick counter attack. He applied a superb finish that cannoned in off the post. AC Richmond were finding their feet though after their first game horror-show. They hit back through Matthew Reay to make it 1-1 with their first goal in eurofootballfives.com competition.

It was 1-1 at half-time and for much of the second half. It looked like the game would finish all level but there was to be a twist in the tale. AC Richmond were pushing for a winner and they were hit by a late sucker punch as Mario Sebastiao struck to earn Water Boy a 2-1 win. It was a win that would see Water Boy top the table.

For AC Richmond it was a really cruel blow. They were really beginning to establish themselves in the tournament and we hoped this late goal would not set them back.
