Hup Holland Hup and JNJ Pencoed met in their final Group A games. The JNJ Pencoed win in Round 4 meant that Hup Holland Hup had no chance of making the Plate and they knew this would be their last game of the tournament – could they go out with a bang?

For JNJ Pencoed they had won their last two games and put themselves in with an outside chance of Cup qualification. Due to JNJ Russia's emphatic win over GBS Reds this looked particularly tough. JNJ Pencoed needed to win, hope JNJ Wuppertal beat JNJ Russia B and rack up such a big win that they'd end up with better goal difference than both. Realistically, JNJ Pencoed were looking at the Plate and they only needed a draw to guarantee this.

With the games underway it was JNJ Pencoed who struck first through Mark Lewis – his second of the day. JNJ Pencoed needed the floodgates to open but the Dutch kept the sluice gates closed. The Dutch had proven they were no pushovers when JNJ High Wycombe A won 1-0. JNJ Pencoed came up against the same stubborn defence. The Welsh were strong at the back themselves and claimed the 1-0 victory. It would not be enough for the Cup but they would go into the Plate on a high with 3 wins in a row.

Hup Holland Hup would finish in 6 th position and be eliminated. We hope you enjoyed your day despite results going against you.

The penultimate game of Group A was JNJ High Wycombe A versus GBS Reds. JNJ High Wycombe A were cruising into the Cup competition and could sign off Group A as champions with just a point against GBS Reds in this one. The Czech team had started off well with a win but 3 defeats later and their challenge had tailed off. They had an outside chance of making the Plate but only if they could win this, spring an upset and hope JNJ Wuppertal got spanked by the Russians. The 7-1 defeat to the Germans was coming back to haunt the Czechs now.

The first goal of the game was a surprise and went to Jakub Salatek of GBS Reds – his third goal of the tournament. It was the first goal the English team had conceded and did we have a shock on the cards? JNJ High Wycombe A hit back but were unable to find the path to goal. Gordon MacIntosh in the GBS Reds goal was having a fine game. He preserved the 1-0 lead until half-time.

JNJ High Wycombe A equalized soon after the break through Alex Woodger. It was all JNJ High Wycombe launching wave after wave of attack but they were unable to forge ahead as MacIntosh continued his fine performance. GBS Reds had a couple of chances on the break but it was generally one way pressure. The English finally got the winning goal with just a couple of minutes to spare as Alex Woodger found himself in space on the left and drilled home the winning goal, 2-1.

Congratulations to JNJ High Wycombe A on not only qualifying for the Cup but also winning Group A with a 100% record. They were certainly contenders for this title. For GBS Reds, it was an early finish on their 11th eurofootballfives.com appearance – we looked forward to #12….wherever that may be!

The 15th and final game of Group A was JNJ Wuppertal versus JNJ Russia B. This was effectively a knock-out tie as it would decide which team would progress to the Cup and which team would have to settle for the Plate competition. JNJ Russia B had second place in their command at the moment so only needed to avoid defeat to confirm 2nd place. JNJ Wuppertal needed to win to leapfrog above their opponents and needed to win by 2 clear goals to go through on goal difference.

There was all to play for and we reached half-time none the wiser on which team would be qualifying for the Cup although JNJ Russia B were getting closer. The two teams were level at 1-1 with goals from Stefan Kalhofer (Wuppertal) and Stanislav Martynov (Russia). After the break an own goal virtually killed off JNJ Wuppertal's hopes as JNJ Russia B went 2-1 up. The German team now needed to score three goals but with time running out they conceded again as Rustan Kecherukov made the final score 3-1. It was Kecherukov's fifth goal of the tournament and equaled his tally from Prague 2012.

So, we now knew that JNJ Russia B would join JNJ High Wycombe A in the Cup. JNJ Wuppertal would join JNJ Pencoed in the Plate and we would say farewell to GBS Reds and Hup Holland Hup.
