The
second ever Amsterdam Sixes Plate Final would
be contested by FC Gijon and Top Bunners. Let's
have a look at the two teams' form today:
FC
Gijon
Played
6, Won 3, Drawn 0, Lost 3, For 15, Against 8.
Group
finish: 4th.
Top
Bunners
Played
6, Won 4, Drawn 0, Lost 2, For 16, Against 8.
Group
finish: 3rd.
In
terms of goal difference the teams were virtually
identical with Top Bunners scoring just 1 more.
This pointed to a really even contest in the
Plate Final. The two teams had met in the group
phase and Top Bunners had edged the game 2-1.
A repeat would do them perfectly but the result
of this was going to be too close to call.
With
the game underway it was Top Bunners who held
the initial advantage – they were helped along
with the aid of an own goal. In the second half
Craig Gill levelled things up for 1-1. We would
need a penalty shoot-out to decide this.
Adam
Hale of Top Bunners would take the first penalty.
He scored 7 goals in the tournament and was
on target in the shoot-out. A confident and
well struck shot which sent the ‘keeper the
wrong way.
