Before we got into Round 5 in earnest we wanted to add the final walkover of Group B. This would be Top Bunners who would collect their 3-0 win. It consolidated them in third position as they would qualify for this afternoon's Plate competition.

Back to the action on the field, Brewin Dolphin would finish their campaign against FC Gijon. In all likelihood, Brewin Dolphin would finish in fifth place and be eliminated. Although they were technically level with FC Gijon on points the latter had a game in hand and were expected to win this one based on previous results in the group.

It would take a Herculean effort for Brewin Dolphin to turn their results around – psychologically as much as anything else. They were there for the taking and FC Gijon hit them for six. Lee Sutton (2), Nick Harding, Jack Myers, Connor Seymour and Kieran Eastwood all boosted their personal goal tallies and their team's goal difference.

The game put Brewin Dolphin out of their footballing misery. It was such a shame that injuries spoilt their chance to compete as they had done in Lisbon. We hope the footballing gods look kinder on them in 2019 and they don't have another touch of the Abou Diabys.

The final game of Group B was FC Gijon again versus SDZ3. We offered FC Gijon the chance to have a little breather before we kicked off but they wanted to carry straight on whilst the muscles were warm and they were in their stride.

At the start of the game it was second versus third. So, what were the permutations:

SDZ3 win: This would secure second place for the Dutch team. FC Gijon would join Top Bunners in the Plate.

A draw: This would secure second place for the Dutch team. Top Bunners would finish third, FC Gijon fourth.

FC Gijon win: Would put them level on points with SDZ3. FC Gijon had a 11-4 goal difference, SDZ3 had a goal difference of 14-3. A 1 goal win would see SDZ3 in second on goal difference, a 2 goal win would see SDZ3 on goals scored, a 3 goal win or more would see FC Gijon claim second and qualify for the Cup.

It was SDZ3 who made the early running and they forged a 2-1 lead by half-time. Barbossa added another two to his tally as he continued to bang the goals in. Nick Harding scored for FC Gijon who were still very much in this. Hani Radjapas then made it 3-1 to SDZ3. That could well have been the clincher. If it wasn't then Roger Van Der Zwan's goal to make it 4-1 certainly was.

Congratulations to SDZ3 who would qualify for the Cup. FC Gijon would join Top Bunners in the Plate competition.
