We began Round 3 with John Lewis FC versus FC Letcom as fifth position took on sixth position. Group A was proving to be very tight and relatively low-scoring games were testimony to that. Group A would average 3.60 goals per game compared to 4.40 goals per game in Group B. It made for a very interesting group table and every goal mattered.

FC Letcom had won their first four fixtures last year. Today, with much the same squad, they had lost their opening two. This was possibly an indication of the higher overall standard this season. Despite a slow start, they still had a hope of qualifying for the Cup but they had to win their last 3 games and hope other results would favour them.

John Lewis FC had put first game defeat behind them to pick up a draw against the defending champions last time out. What they needed now was to register in the win column. Could they take advantage of FC Letcom's stuttering start to the competition.

We reached half-time with the scores level. The team's changed ends at 1-1 with Tom Rooney scoring his first of the tournament for John Lewis FC. Jonny Wray was on target for the men from Switzerland. In the second half Serkan Karaagac put FC Letcom 2-1 up. Jonny Wray scored his second to make it 3-1 which wrapped up the victory for his team.

The result propelled FC Letcom to fourth in the table whilst John Lewis FC slipped to sixth.

The next fixture would be Vieze Vu versus Ross Kemp FC. At the start of Round 3 this was a team joint top of the table side versus the team in third of the table. Ross Kemp FC had a four point advantage over their opponents with 2 wins compared with their opponents two draws.

Vieze Vu were aiming to defend their title. When Toros failed to show last year, Vieze Vu stepped in to take their space. They had conceded the first game to a walkover but won the remaining four fixtures to win Group B. They defeated Cheesecake FC 2-1 in the Cup Semi-Final and then drew 1-1 with TEDO3 in the Cup Final before going on to take the title 4-3 on penalties.

The defence of their title could potentially be over by Round 3. If they lost this game they would be 7 points behind Ross Kemp FC with only 6 points to play for. Given the form of Cheesecake FC this would mean the Plate would be the best they could then hope for. A draw would not really help too much so Vieze Vu really had to win.

Obviously Ross Kemp FC would want to make it 3 wins out of 3 but a draw would not be a bad result for them with Cup qualification in mind. They were level, 0-0, with Vieze Vu at half-time. In the second half the teams exchanged goals through Kieran Cherrie (Ross Kemp FC) and Jordi Minnema (Vieze Vu).

Game #9 of Group A would be Lostwithiel FC versus Cheesecake FC. Cheesecake FC had a formidable record at our events:

With two wins out of today and Gavin McEvoy yet to concede, Cheesecake FC looked like this was going to be another strong performance. Lostwithiel FC had performed well so far but had arguably not picked up the results they deserved and were looking for their first win.

Lostwithiel FC were well placed at half-time. They were level at 1-1 thanks to a Chris Chandler goal. Jamie Ingley was on target for Cheesecake FC.

In the second half Cheesecake FC did enough to win it thanks to goals from Justin Rees and Kevin Raphael. James Hutchings' goal for Lostwithiel FC would not be enough for Lostwithiel FC as they slipped to another narrow defeat.

Cheesecake FC were top of Group A with a 2 point lead.
