CIS Committee (Blr)

Game 10 in Group B was the big one – the battle between the top 2. It was CIS Committee versus SDZ3. It was two teams with a 100% record, two teams who had been scoring for fun, two teams who had only conceded 1 goal between them. This could easily be considered a straight showdown for the Group B title.

CIS Committee currently lead the way due to their greater goal difference (+14) compared with the Dutch team's +13. If the two teams had been so inclined they could have played for a draw to ensure both would qualify for the Cup with a game to spare. However, there was no doubt both teams were out to win this one. If there was to be a loser in this game you felt they may well have enough to qualify anyway (largely due to those goal differences).

This was a game we could sit back and savour. We could easily be witnessing a dress rehearsal for the Cup Final so each team would want to get in a good psychological blow. It was CIS Committee who struck first. Ivan Maksimovich scored for the third game in a row and his team lead 1-0 at half-time.

It was the first goal that SDZ3 had conceded today. They were to concede two more in the second half as Aliaksandr Viazhevich kept up his record of scoring in every game today. There was another goal for Sergej Livotchkin.

Despite Jannis Janseen's goal for SDZ3, the Dutch slipped to their first defeat of the day as we finished at 3-1. SDZ3 were still well placed to qualify for the Cup.

Top Bunners were up next against Brewin Dolphin. With SDZ3's defeat there was a chink of light at the end of the tunnel for the three teams on 3 points. If they could take 6 points from the last on offer and SDZ3 lost their final game then there was a chance they could leapfrog the Dutch and take second position in the group to qualify for the Cup. It would take a big ask though due to goal difference.

Top Bunners took full advantage in this match against a struggling Brewin Dolphin. The latter had several injuries in the build-up to the tournament so were playing a number of their non-playing tour members instead of the guys who signed up as players. That may well have showed in the 9-0 and 8-0 defeats they had already suffered.

Top Bunners had a chance to cement a good position in the table and could qualify for the Plate (at least) with victory here. They won in style and had two hat-tricks to boast in the process. Adam Hale and Antonio Villa both made claims on the match-ball (although the venue wouldn't let you keep it). There was a second goal of the day too for Dimitri Purcell. Job done.

Due to the cancellation of Horse and Trumpet FC it caused a little bit of havoc with the fixtures and we were all out of sync to try and prevent teams having too long a break and/or playing back-to-back. We therefore added CIS Committee's 3-0 walkover to the table.

It meant they had finished their allotted fixtures – 5 wins out of 5 and a maximum 15 points. The Cup Semi-Finals awaited them.
