The
inaugural winners of the Amsterdam Fives, Olympic
Phil Babb, chose to conquer the 2009 Algarve Open
(which they did) rather than defend their Amsterdam
Fives title. 2009 would see a brand new champion
crowned.
This
year's tournament saw us welcome back many friendly
faces including the Wafty
Crankers, Bartley Greeners, CSF and
3 Lions.
In
addition to our valued returning teams we were
delighted to welcome FC
Biermeisers, Amsterdamage, Blazer Army and
Bulls Head who were all making their international
debuts in eurofootballfives.com competition.
We
had a great local Dutch challenge who will be
aiming to prevent the trophy leaving Amsterdam
on a plane. Those teams are SDZ
Amsterdam , Wilhelmus A, Wilhelmus B, Tom Tom
One, Tom Tom Go and
Merlijns FC.
The
first phase of the 2009 Amsterdam Fives was to
be decided upon a group basis with three groups
of 5 teams. The top two in each group plus the
best two 3 rd placed teams would progress to the
Cup competition with the remaining teams taking
their place in the Plate.
Please
read on to see how the action unfolded over a
glorious day in Amsterdam!
