Group
A started with sad news that the Wilhelmus squad
which was due to enter two teams was down to one
due to a few last-minute injuries. The Wilhelmus
Squad would take their part in Group B and relinquish
their second berth in Group A. The CSF were due
to be their opponents and they benefitted to the
tune of a 3-0 walkover.
The
first action on the pitch would see the FC
Biermeisters Nord make their eurofootballfives.com
debut against 2008 Barca Fives Plate Runners-Up
– 3 Lions. The
first half proved to be a close contest and with
both defences on top the teams could not be separated
with the score 0-0 at the turnaround. The second
half saw the deadlock broken when Chris Baginsky
put the 3 Lions 1-0 up. 1-0 became 2-0 through
Baginsky again when his perseverance paid off.
FC Biermeisters ‘keeper Van Den Broek saved the
initial attempt pushing it onto the post but as
Baginsky followed up he bundled the ball into
the net with his chest.
You
could be forgiven for thinking it was game over
but FC Biermeisters pulled one back to keep the
contest alive as Dom Bouloux scored their first
of the tournament. 3 Lions held on though and
picked up all 3 points.

The

pick-up their three walkover points against Wilhelmus
A. The next two teams to take to the field would
be 3 Lions and
Tom Tom One. Early
indications had shown that these would be the

As

was a very even game with both teams showing a
lot of quality and desire to win. Neither team
gave an inch and we went into half-time at 0-0.
In this type of fixture the first goal is often
crucial and when it came in this game it would
be decisive. Mike Monaco of the 3 Lions was the
man to claim the goal. Chris Baginsky added a
second (his third of the tournament) and the game

they topped the table at the half-way stage.
