The
CSF and FC
Biermeisters Nord both went into Game 6
on three points each. Third place in the group
could potentially mean a place in the Cup and
so this game would be vitally important for each
team's chances of progression. THE CSF's slow
start to the tournament continued when they found
themselves concede first to Dom Bouloux. The lead
was doubled before half-time when Paul Jones opened
his tournament account. Things got even better
for FC Biermeisters Nord in the second half when
Jez Hunt put them firmly in command. The CSF then
seemed to come alive and an Oz Zamora brace put
them back in at 3-2. The second goal a fine back
post header from a Tom Mottram corner. The final
whistle ended their chances of a comeback as the
three points went to the Biermeisters and they
joined the 3 Lions at the top of the table.
This
would only be for a short while though as the
3 Lions claimed their three walkover points versus
Wilhelmus A.
Tom
Tom One knew they had their three walkover
points to come and so a win would see them secure
Cup qualification. The same was also true for
FC Biermeisters Nord
whose win against the CSF put them in the mix
at the top of Group A. The Dutch team started
the game the better and when Bimmce Sekeyeke scored
his 5th goal of the tournament to put Tom Tom
One 1-0 up it was always going to be a tough ask
for the travelling team.
What
followed was a classic and we saw a total of 6
goals in the game with honours finishing even
at 3-3. Sekeyeke grabbed his 6th of the tournament
and Kweku Blay his second for the Dutch in response
to Bouloux's double (4 for him in the tournament)
and Jez Hunt's goal. The result effectively sealed
Tom Tom One in 2nd place and FC Biermeisters in
3rd in Group A. The latter would have to wait
for the results in other groups to see if they
had done enough to make the Cup.

The
CSF and 3
Lions would complete the activity in the
group. With both teams knowing their fate for
the knockout stage the result was academic in
one sense although pride was at stake. These two
teams met in the 2008 Barca Fives Plate Quarter-Final
last November and the 3 Lions ran out 4-1 winners
on that occasion. 3 Lions wanted a 100% record
to win the group in style and the CSF would surely
want momentum going into the Plate. They chose
this game to produce their best performance following
on from their (near) comeback against the Biermeisters.
The first half finished 0-0 and Stacy Cross put
the 3 Lions ahead. Cross now had a two in two
record against the CSF having scored in the aforementioned
Barca Plate quarter-final. Chris Tuck equalized
for the CSF though to ensure a share of the points.
Once
Tom Tom One's walkover points had been added it
was congratulations to the 3 Lions for their group
victory. Tom Tom One and FC Biermeisters Nord
had both done enough to make the Cup. The CSF
would go through to the Plate and aim for their
3rd Plate victory.
