SDZ
Amsterdam were late withdrawals from the 2009
Amsterdam Fives handing Amsterdamage a 3-0 victory
in the opening game of Group B without kicking
a ball in anger.
Wafty
Crankers and Bartley
Greeners would need to kick a ball to earn
their first points though. Both teams had played
in the 2008 Prague Masters (although not against
each other) so were eager to show how they had
progressed since then. Wafty Crankers had achieved
the better results last year but it was the Bartley
Greeners who were showing the early signs of making
greater progress. Andy Ross scored in the first
half to put them 1-0 up. The lead was to last
until half-time.
It
does not happen often that a team can overturn
a half-time deficit in eurofootballfives.com competition
but that is exactly what the Wafty Crankers would
need to do here. They managed it too when they
equalized through James Rowland. With the momentum
now in their favour it was Neil Fraser who would
prove to be the Wafty Crankers match winning hero
as he scored the game's crucial third and final
goal to secure a 2-1 victory.
