Ashtead Vets versus Mavericks proved to be a very enjoyable game to watch. Ashtead Vets were propping up the table but had looked much improved in their previous game. Mavericks were hitherto unbeaten with 1 win and 2 draws to their name. Mavericks really needed another win to sustain their Cup qualification hopes. Ashtead Vets needed a win to give them hope of qualifying for the Plate.

In the first half there was a crucial period of play when Mavericks looked like they had taken the lead but Vas Michael saw his effort hit the bar. Ashtead Vets went down the other end and Matt Fowkes provided an excellent finish to put his team 1-0 up. Mavericks were almost level but Manish Madhvani saw his header rebound off the bar. Ashtead Vets lead 1-0 at half-time.

Mavericks did hit back in the second half as Manish Madhvani hit the back of the net to make it 1-1. Neither team could find a winner and we declared at 1-1. The point, whilst clearly better than a defeat, did not really help either team in their quest for Cup/Plate qualification.

The next fixture was the all-Portuguese encounter between Tanagra and Pioes. Tanagra currently lead the way with 9 points from a possible 9. Pioes were not far away with 7 points from their 3 games. A win for Tanagra would secure Cup qualification and the Group B title in one fell swoop.

A Pioes win would secure their Cup qualification but the group win would still be up for grabs. A draw would edge both teams closer to the Cup but give hope for the chasing pack.

Goals in this game were conspicuous by their absence. The first half came and went with the scorers untroubled, 0-0. The second half also came and went with the scorers untroubled, 0-0. It wasn't for the want of trying as both teams tried to win the game but their efforts went unrewarded. Final score, 0-0.

WEEDS went into their fourth game looking for their first win of the day. If they could get it here and win their final game then a place in the Plate was still very much on the table. The Warriors knew a win would guarantee a place in the Plate as the bare minimum and give them a springboard to potentially qualify for the Cup.

WEEDS continued to fight and battle despite results not going their way this morning. They matched their opponents blow for blow and the teams reached half-time level at 0-0. Defensively WEEDS were sound but they were struggling at the other end.

In the second half it was The Warriors who forged ahead when James Newton struck. It was a goal that would earn his team all 3 points and propel them to third place in the table. For WEEDS it must have been a sickener – a third 1-0 defeat in four games. We hoped the tide would change for them soon.
