Your Mum (Eng)

The first final of the day would see Southgate County versus Your Mum. With five games of football already under their belt the two teams would need to summon one last burst of energy to ensure they would be picking up winners medals in the presentation.

For Your Mum, this was a second Plate Final and the first since their debut after 3 Plate Semi-Final defeats in the years in between. As Deportivo Lack of Talent in the 2011 Budapest Fives Plate Final they narrowly missed out, 2-1, to Hungary's Al Kaloida. Could they go one better in this one?

For Southgate County it was a first   @eurofootball5 final at only the second attempt. They would start as favourites with 3 wins from their 5 games which included a 3-0 win over Your Mum when the two teams met in the group stage this morning.

When the teams met earlier in the day it had been a fast start for Southgate County with two first half goals but this contest was much more even. When the referee blew his whistle for half-time we were all square at 0-0. For much of the second half the score remained at 0-0 with Southgate County looking to get on top as the game progressed. Your Mum's resistance was broken by Simon Hicks who scored his second of the tournament to give Southgate County a 1-0 lead. Your Mum had come from a goal down in their Semi-Final but were unable to repeat the feat in the Final and they fell further behind when Tony Sayers banged in his 7 th goal of the day. It was a great return for Sayers who scored the joint most goals of the tournament but missed out on the Top Goalscorer award due to the tiebreaker as his rival's goals were scored in the Cup competition. Still, 7 goals in 6 games is a superb day's work.

The goal sealed the victory for Southgate County who celebrated their win with gusto and well they might after an epic journey to Lisbon. We'd like to thank them for their monumental effort and surely the winner's trophy and medals made it all worthwhile.

We'd like to offer our commiserations to Your Mum for just missing out on glory in the Plate Final. Following 6 appearances maybe it will be Lucky 7 next time – we'd like to thank them for their continued support at our tournaments.

For today though, we present you the 2016 Lisbon Tournament Plate Winners – Southgate County.
