The
first game of Round 2 saw an early top of the
table clash with the two first round winners coming
face-to-face, Brighton & Hove Rockets versus
Atlantic Star of Manchester. In a North v South
fixture it was the boys from the South that took
the early initiative when Giles Collyer scored
his second goal in as many games. Brighton &
Hove Rockets held on to the lead until the break.
The 2 nd half was even tighter than the first
with both defences blunting their oppositions
attacks. In the end there were to be no further
goals and the game finished 1-0. Two wins from
two for the Brighton & Hove Rockets and they
sat pretty on top of Group A.
Azmot
of Poland would take heart from their opening
point against Complex as they took on the Love
Generation. The Poles got off to a great start
as they raced into a two goal lead thanks to a
brace from Mateusz Kuvzolyn. Having lost their
opening game and being two goals down in this
one it was all to do for the Love Generation.
The English team showed their fighting spirit
though and reduced their arrears when Ben O'Rourke
found the back of the net. They were right back
in this and when Matt Smith popped up to make
the scores 2-2 the comeback was complete. The
result meant it was two successive draws for Azmot
and The Love Generation will have been relieved
to put their first point on the board.
The
final game of the round also saw a good first
half performance from a Polish team as Complex
found themselves with a 2-0 half-time lead thanks
to a goal from Jan Tota adding to a second goal
of the tournament for Stanislaw Derszniak. DHL
Prague having lost their opening fixture needed
to dig deep and that is exactly what they did.
It was a formidable task to comeback from two
goals against such strong opposition but Tomas
Jerabek ensured they would do that scoring both
goals for the Czechs. Another 2-2 draw and with
three draws out of six games already Group A was
shaping up to be a very close competition.
