We arrived at the Plate Quarter-Final stage with 8 teams still in action. We had representative teams from Scandanavia (x2), Estonia & Lithuania (x2), England (x2), Ireland and Switzerland.

The first Quarter-Final saw Nordic Vikings 2.0 taking on JNJ Estonia & Lithuania A. In theory this was the “home” banker of the Plate Quarter-Finals. It was the third placed team from Group C against the best 6th placed team so the form guide of the day was in favour of Nordic Vikings 2.0.

The form book can be wrong but it was 100% correct this time. Nordic Vikings 2.0 made short work of progressing to the Semi-Finals. They were 4-0 up at half-time and eased to an 11-0 victory at full-time. For JNJ Estonia & Lithuania A it was time to relax and enjoy a beer as their work on the field of play was done.

Payraw Farhad scored against EDC2 at this stage of the competition last year and he scored the first two of this game. Kasper Vaudstrup made it 3-0 and then Jesper Bile Puck scored either side of half-time. Eva Katzerova scored to make it 6-0 before two more from Payraw Farhad took him to 10 goals for the tournament. Lucas Carette made it 9-0 before Kasper Vaudstrup completed his hat-trick for an 11-0 win.

We moved to Pitch B for the second Plate Quarter-Final which saw DePuy Blackpool take on EDC. DePuy Blackpool appeared in the Plate at the 2018 edition of the tournament and went all the way to the Plate Final. EDC had two teams at this stage last year and both went out to narrow defeats (1-0 and 2-1). They also left us at this stage at the 2017 event in Bratislava. It was even closer there as they lost on penalties after a 3-3 draw with Cilag Team 2 (Swi)

DePuy Blackpool had either won big or lost big today. Fortunately for them it was a win big kind of a game. It didn't start that well though as it was EDC who struck first thanks to a Ivan Aldavert goal. DePuy Blackpool responded well and turned the game around courtesy of two Ben Jones goals.

The second half kicked off with DePuy Blackpool ahead. They were to extend that lead to 3-1 when Ben Jones completed his hat-trick. EDC were back in at 3-2 when Aidan O'Neill scored his fourth of the tournament. Arguably the critical goal was the sixth one which was Adam Lilley's goal that extended the lead to 2 goals with time against the Irish. Ben Jones 6th goal of the day sealed the win for DePuy Blackpool.

We moved to Pitch C for the third Plate Quarter-Final which saw Capital Leeds Whites take on Nordic Vikings. Nordic Vikings had a 100% record in Plate Quarter-Finals having beaten EDC2 (Ire) at this stage last year and Nordic Vikings 2.0 securing the win in the first Plate Quarter-Final today.

They were theoretically underdogs against Capital Park Leeds Whites due to their 5 th placed finish compared to the English team's 4 th placed finish. Having said that, both teams finished with 3 points from their group campaign. Nordic Vikings had the better goal difference of 16-22 compared with 7-19 for Capital Park Leeds Whites.

It was Nordic Vikings who forged ahead here thanks to strikes from Mikael Lindholm and Markus Johansson (x2). Capital Park Leeds Whites pulled it back to 3-1 when Aivaras Daujotas scored his fourth of the tournament. Mikael Lindholm scored again for 4-1 at half-time. After the break Markus Johansson completed his hat-trick and there was a third goal of the day for Markus Korhonen.

The last goal of the game would go to James Dunstan but sadly for his team it would be their last of the day. Final score, 2-6.

Who would meet Nordic Vikings in the second Plate Semi-Final? The teams set to do battle were Actelion FC and Janssen Lithuania. Actelion FC were hot favourites for this.

A look at the league tables showed Actelion FC finished with 6 points from their group games. Janssen Lithuania finished with 0 points and a goal difference of 3-43 which included an 18-0 defeat in their final group fixture.

Actelion FC duly completed their victory and found themselves 4-0 up at the change of ends. Denis Wahl set them on their way with his second of the tournament. Davide Gruel then added two to his tally and Martin Kirwan also got in on the act. Matthew Lewis made it 5-0 in the second half before Jurgita Bendinskiene gave her team something to cheer at 5-1. Davide Gruel completed his hat-trick and the 6-1 win with his 10th goal of the tournament.
