Group B continued with EDC (Ire) versus JNJ Russia (Rus). This was a match between a team with an enviable 100% record of 2 wins from 2 for the Russians. They were playing a team with an unwanted 100% record of 2 defeats from 2 for the Irish.

These two teams met in the group phase last year and EDC (Ire) put in a respectable performance as they only lost 2-0 to their illustrious opponents. JNJ Russia were looking formidable here with 9-0 and 4-1 wins so far. It was another creditable performance from EDC given the strength of their opponents. JNJ Russia were held to a 3-0 win with Lev Mikheev, Oleg Sakmaev and Andrey Sheremetyev all on target for the men from Moscow.

JNJ Russia would continue to lead Group B at the end of Round 3.

Janssen Portugal were a fantastic addition to the tournament at the 2016 JNJ Euro Soccer Tournament in Krakow. If there was a popularity contest then Janssen Portugal would have won it by a distance. On the pitch, they were the “almost team”. They lost their first two games by the odd goal and never quite recovered. Despite just 1 win from 6 games their goal difference of -6 showed they were competitive throughout. They won their Plate Quarter-Final, 2-1, over Synthes UK 2 and then repeated the dose on JNJ High Wycombe in the Semi-Final. They set up a Plate Final against GBS Reds but missed out on victory, 4-2. In the presentation they celebrated like they had won the World Cup – memorable scenes.

Today they had 4 points from a possible 6 as they occupied second place in the table. They were currently 5 points behind JNJ Russia but could reduce that deficit to just 2 points with a win here. They were favourites against JNJ Estonia and Lithuania who had 2 defeats to date.

Janssen Portugal were merciless as they knocked 12 goals past their opponents. Bernardo Rodrigues added 4 more goals to his personal tally. Nuno Cunha and Humberto Moreira each scored a double plus there were goals from Andre Riscardo, Manuel Salavessa and Francisco Cruz.

To complete Round 3 we had Actelion FC versus Capital Park Leeds Blues. These teams were only 1 point apart at the start of play. Actelion FC were in fourth place and a win would see them move above their opponents. Capital Park Leeds Blues began in third place but could join Janssen Portugal in second with a win here.

Capital Park Leeds Blues started slowly in the first half of Round 1 but had since been very good. That run continued here as Liam Robinson (top scorer at the 2015 JNJ Euro Soccer Tournament in Prague) put the English team 2-0 up. Dave Jobe and Jay Yaffe continued to be amongst the goals for their team to make it 4-0 before Liam Robinson completed his first half hat-trick.

Actelion FC pulled a couple back through Colin Malcolm and Denis Wahl to make it 5-2 but Dave Jobe was on hand to make it 6-2 at half-time.

The second half was a little closer as Liam Robinson added another couple for Capital Park Leeds Blues whilst there was a goal from Marc Baumann for Actelion FC. Final score, 8-3.
