The
penultimate game would be JNJ Russia versus
Capital Park Leeds Blues. At the start of Round
5 these two teams were joint top, they were
now joint second due to Janssen Portugal's victory.
If
either team could produce a win from this game
they would be crowned Group B winners. The loser
would finish third but still qualify for the
Cup. If the game was to result in a draw then
JNJ Russia and Capital Park Leeds Blues would
finish in second and third respectively behind
Janssen Portugal on goal difference. These teams
had played a number of times before:
Bratislava
2014: Tekkers Lovakia beat JNJ Russia, 2-0 (Group
A)
Bratislava
2014: JNJ Russia B beat Gerri Hat-tricks, 1-0
(Group B)
Krakow
2016: JNJ Medical Russia beat Synthes UK 2,
4-0 (Group A)
Krakow
2016: JNJ Medical Russia beat Synthes UK 1,
4-1 (Cup Final)
History
had seen Russia win 3 out of 4 and that was
soon to be 4 out of 5 as JNJ Russia put in a
strong first half performance that saw them
reach the break 3-0 up. Dmitrii Elchaninov and
Andrey Sheremetyev (x2) were both on target.
Oleg Sakmaev made it 4-0 in the second half.
Both he and Sheremetyev moved on to 5 goals
for the tournament. Scott Biggs scored a consolation
for Capital Park Leeds Blues.
Congratulations
to JNJ Russia for their fourth group win in
8 years. Well done too to Capital Park Leeds
Blues for Cup qualification.
