Group B kicked off with Janssen Portugal versus Capital Park Leeds Blues.

Janssen Portugal couldn't make the trip to Budapest 2018 so it was great to see them back in 2019. On their previous appearance a t the 2017 edition of the tournament in Bratislava they kicked off with a 2-2 draw against J&J EMEA Development Centre (Ire). In a tough group defeats followed to Cilag Team 1 (Swi), Klopp & Co (Bel) and Leeds One United (Eng). They finished fourth to qualify for the Plate. They discovered their form with a 5-0 win over Cilag Team 3 (Swi) and then a penalty shoot-out win over Cilag Team 2 (Swi) after a 2-2 draw. They were Plate runners-up though after defeat to Belgium's Treasury Tigers in the final.

This was a cracking game to start Group B. Janssen Portugal made the early running as Ricardo Prata and Andre Riscardo gave them a 2-0 lead at half-time. Capital Park Leeds Blues staged a remarkable comeback in the second half. Dave Jobe reduced the arrears to 2-1 before Jay Yaffe secured a late equaliser for 2-2.

Honours even and 1 point each.

Match 2 saw Actelion FC (Swi) versus EDC (Ire). These two teams met in last year's tournament in Hungary. The match resulted in a 4-0 win for Actelion FC with goals from James Goodbrand, Tang Duc, Davide Gruel and an own goal.

At this year's tournament the two teams played out an evenly contested first half. Neither team had anything to show for their attacking efforts as both goalkeepers were half-way to a clean sheet at the break. We were level at 0-0.

As the second half progressed it looked like the game may well end in a draw but Actelion FC found the breakthrough late on. They scored not once but twice through Jimi Raine and Davide Gruel. The Swiss team took all 3 points in a solid 2-0 win.

The final two teams to get their 2019 JNJ Euro Soccer Tournament campaign underway were JNJ Russia (Rus) JNJ Estonia & Lithuania (Est). JNJ Russia were the most experienced team at these events featuring in all 8 of the JNJ Euro Soccer Tournaments. JNJ Estonia & Lithuania (Est) were on debut so we would shortly get our first glimpse of them in action.

JNJ Estonia & Lithuania had planned to enter two teams from the same travelling party – 1 to represent Estonia and 1 to represent Lithuania. Due to player availability the Estonian contingent were supplemented by some of the Lithuanian contingent. Still, the team were representing Estonia who became the 41 st nation to be represented in our tournaments. Hot on the heels of JNJ Saudi Arabia (40 th ) who had kicked off just one game before.

It was a tough start for JNJ Estonia & Lithuania against the 2x winners of this tournament. JNJ Russia went on to win the game 9-0. Oleg Sakmaev started the game with 2 goals before Andrey Sheremetyev and Lev Mikheev made it 4-0. Maxim Ustinov scored 4 goals before Rostyslav put the finishing touch on the win.
