Bristol Bridge (Eng)

15:30 on Saturday 30th April, Barcelona – the first final of the eurofootballfives.com 2011 season and it was the Barcelona Fives Plate Final between Intermore FC representing Ireland and Bristol Bridge representing England.

Previously in this report we've mentioned how well organized Intermore FC are and how close Bristol Bridge's games have been so we were expecting a tight and evenly contested match. Curse of the commentator would mean this would be a one-sided goalfest. There was to be no curse and we got the well match, close encounter we expected.

At half-time there was stalemate at 0-0 and you would be a brave man to predict a winner. The game needed someone to step up to the plate to win the Plate. Who would write the headlines and bring home the trophy as a goal looked less and less likely and extra time/penalties looked more and more likely. Inevitably, if there was going to be a goal it was highly likely it would be the winner.

We did get a goal and that went to Bristol Bridge. The man who took the plaudits with the Plate-winning strike was Peter Phillips.

Both teams had played their part in an intriguing and enthralling final. Our congratulations go to Intermore FC for a fine tournament as they collected their runners-up medals. Bigger congratulations go to Bristol Bridge who claim the winning trophy, winners medals and the crown of…
