Group
C kicked off with some familiar faces and friends
of eurofootballfives.com as Kings Old Boys met
Celtic Craic. Kings Old Boys competed in the 2009
Barca Fives making the Plate Semi-Finals and along
the way proved they are an unusual English team
– they won a penalty shoot-out! In the 2010 Amsterdam
Fives they proved to be a stronger outfit and
made it through to the Cup Semi-Finals where they
suffered a narrow 1-0 loss to eventual champions
Goldsmith Williams. In the 2009 Barca Fives Kings
Old Boys met Luminy Wolves losing 8-3 (the most
goals the French team conceded in one game) but
must be relieved they avoided them in the group
stage this year.
Celtc
Craic are the second Irish team in the draw as
they make their second eurofootballfives.com appearance.
They made their debut in the 2010 Prague Masters
when a hangover-effected performance saw them
struggle in a tough group. They come to Barcelona
looking to improve on their Prague results. Based
upon 2010 performance you would make Kings Old
Boys favourites but Celtic Craic were looking
an improved side. Although improved they could
not prevent Alan Jones giving Kings Old Boys a
1-0 half-time lead.
From
there it remained tough and when the final whistle
blew Kings Old Boys had edged it 2-1 thanks to
Paul Veasey scoring the eventual winner. Julian
Cornelius scored Celtic Craic's first Barcelona
goal.
