From the 20 original teams we were down to the final four and for the first-time ever we had 4 Spanish Semi-Finalists. Therefore, Spain – currently holding the European Championships and World Cup would now certainly add the Barcelona Fives to the list of silverware and titles. It was amazing how it turned out as you would have expected the French to feature and 3 of the Quarter-Finals finished in a draw so the Semi-Finals could have looked quite different – a lot has to be said of the mental strength of the Spanish teams as well as their abilitiy on the field.

Enough admiration of Spanish football and let's get on to the games at hand. Cup Semi-Final 1 saw Rapid Bosco Navas take on the Black Sheep. Having produced the result of the last 8, Rapid Bosco Navas were now the team to watch for many as they sought to reach their second Barcelona final. Their opponents would be no push over though.

At half-time we were level at 1-1 thanks to Xavier Llimona (Rapid Bosco Navas) and Fernando Galea (Black Sheep). There were no further goals in the second half and for the 4 th game in 5 knock-out fixtures we were still level at full time with the score remaining at 1-1. This showed just how well matched the 2011 Barcelona Fives teams were.

Both teams had been here before in the previous round with Rapid Bosco Navas going through on penalties and Black Sheep going through on golden goal. The Black Sheep could not find the golden goal this time but neither could their opposition so it was penalties again.

Rapid Bosco Navas would go into the shoot-out in confidence after the Quarter-Finals and maybe that experience gave them the edge in this penalty shoot-out as they won 3-2. It was a tough exit for the Black Sheep but you expect tough competition at this stage of the tournament – on another day they could have been in the final but today, sadly for them, it was not to be.

Goalkeeper David Garcia Gallego mentioned that in 5 previous penalty shoot-outs before today (2 in eurofootballfives.com competition) they had never won. Now they had won two in a row. Maybe 2011 was going to be there year?

The second Semi-Final promised to be an intriguing clash as the free-flowing goals of the Equipo A team would meet the obstinate defence of Sesimbassa who had conceded just one goal in 5 games. Sesimbassa were not shy in front of goal themselves so maybe the key to this match was how well the Equipo A defence would perform.

Would Equipo A try and tighten up or would they just go for goal after goal as they had done so all day. The great news for the watching galleries was they went for the latter. As the Equipo A goals went in Sesimbassa had to leave the gate open at the back as they search for goals. The result was a thriller and it was nip and tuck all the way as eight goals were scored in normal time.

At half-time we were level at 2-2. At full-time, with another four goals we were level at 4-4. As well as 8 goals we had 7 different goalscorers as the ball flew in from all angles. The match was a joy to behold and we suppose it was only fair that both teams had extra time and possibly penalties to decide the tie. In fact, in the 6 knock-out Cup fixtures today, this was the 5th draw – unbelievable.

Goalscorers for Equipo A were Albert Marx Garcia, Eloi Marin Girona and Marc Cheucos (2). For Sesimbassa Joan Domenech got the ball rolling and his goals were followed by strikes from Oriol Belles, Daniel Plazuelo and Pere Ferrer. Cheucos' goals put him level on 13 goals and joint top goalscorer with Chris Pye of Preston OAPs.

In extra-time we were to see our third Cup golden goal and it was Equipo who claimed it to become the first team to make a Barcelona Plate Final and a Barcelona Cup Final. They won the Plate in 2009, could the Cup follow in 2011?

The day was over for Sesimbassa, and as with Black Sheep, we are sure there is a tournament victory for Sesimbassa in the future.
