The
first Plate Semi-Final saw Tsunami
FC take on Spanish opposition for the third
time in the day. They had edged through last time
round via the Golden Goal route although would
face a sterner test this time against Equipo
A. Equipo A were coming into the game on
the back of a 10-3 victory. With their shooting
boots still red hot the Spanish team continued
their quarter-final form and when they took the
lead through Xabi Moya they never looked back.
A one goal lead became two, then three and finally
4-0. Xabi Moya scored a second of the game taking
him to 10 for the tournament which put him top
of the goalscorer charts. Albert Marx and Jack
Foorde both scored for the second game in a row
and Equipo A had booked their first final in eurofootballfives.com
action. Tsunami FC's football was over for the
day and they had a tough draw in the tournament
throughout.
The
second semi-final saw a strong Hawks
side with three wins out of four take on Kings
Old Boys who were undefeated in two games.
The game proved to be a closer contest than the
first semi-final in terms of scoreline and when
the teams turned round at the break Hawks held
a slender 2-1 lead thanks to a double strike from
Rory Gallagher in response to Martyn Kent 's goal
for Kings Old Boys. With the game perfectly poised
the next goal was going to be crucial in deciding
which team would make it through to meet Equipo
A in the Plate final. When it came it was Yaser
El Borghi's second goal in consecutive games that
gave Hawks a 3-1 lead and a two goal cushion.
It was a lead that would prove decisive and with
Kings Old Boys unable to break down the Hawks
defence again we said goodbye to them one hurdle
short of the final straight. It would be Hawks
who would have it all to do again one more time.
