Round 5 began with Ball Sports Pinks versus Les Collegues. Ball Sports Pinks knew this would be their final game. Although they were just 3 points away from the Plate qualification places, the two teams above them were due to meet in the final round of games which would push at least one of those teams beyond the reach of Ball Sports Pinks. They could still end the game on a high and do some damage to Les Collegues' Cup qualification hopes in the process.

From a Les Collegues perspective they ideally needed to win. This would guarantee them a Cup place. If they drew or lost, Elstead Reds could haul them in with a win. It was second position versus sixth position and the form book suggested a French win. It was not to be though.

The first half saw both teams battling it out, with neither side managing to break the deadlock. The defenses were solid, and chances were limited for both Ball Sports Pinks and Les Collegues. Despite their best efforts, the first half ended in a goalless draw.

As the second half commenced, the intensity of the game remained high. Both teams continued to press forward and search for the elusive opening goal. However, the defenses stood strong. The midfield battle was hard-fought, but neither team could convert their efforts into a breakthrough. The match continued to be evenly poised as the minutes ticked away. Both sides displayed determination and resilience, but the final pass or shot lacked the required precision to trouble the scorers.

At the full-time whistle, the match ended in a goalless draw. Ball Sports Pinks could take some pride from the result. For Les Collegues, it meant a nervous wait for the result of the Elstead Reds game.

The penultimate game of Group B was Elstead Reds versus Shab-Tilburg. This was a top of the table clash between first place and third place. There were two Cup qualification spaces on offer. Shab-Tilburg only needed a draw to go through but also win the group which would mean an advantageous draw in the Cup Semi-Finals. Elstead Reds could move level with Les Collegues on 10 points but any form of win would mean Elstead Reds going through on goal difference and relegating Les Collegues to the Plate.

Les Collegues would temporarily have been fans of Shab-Tilburg and they'd have been happy to see the Dutch team make the early breakthrough. Jaafae Aofouallah had been amongst the goals and he added another to his collection here. His goal gave his team a 1-0 lead at half-time.

In the second half, Elstead Reds had to score at least twice without reply to qualify for the Cup but their task got even more difficult as Shab-Tilburg doubled their lead. Abdulwahab Cami scored the second and effectively ended Elstead Red's Cup challenge. They had done well today though and still had the chance of glory as they went through to the Plate.

So, the last game on the field in Group B would be W London versus LSVG1. This match was a straight shoot-out for the second Plate qualification berth. LSVG1 were in prime position as they held a 2 point advantage over their opponents meaning a draw would be good enough for them to go through. W London simply had to win or go home.

It was W London who were doing exactly what they needed to do after the early exchanges. They forged a 2-0 lead with Darius Plummer adding to his ever-increasing goal haul and Eddie Bourne doubling the lead soon after. LSVG1 had a lifeline going into the break as Berend Jansen's second of the day put them in touching distance.

In the second half it was Berend Jansen who was proving to be a thorn in the W London side as he equalized for 2-2. At this stage it was LSVG1 going through to the Plate but the game was on a knife-edge as the next goal could change all that. W London must have been dis-spirited to see a two goal lead slip but they found a second wind and Malek Mansour bagged the goal that would keep W London in the tournament.

The 3-2 win was a complete role reversal from their first game and it arrived at just the right time. Could that goal be their sliding doors moment between going home or going all the way to glory?

For LSVG1 it was a dramatic exit from the tournament. We'd like to thank them for competing and we hope they enjoyed their day.
