Mavericks and The Badgers kicked off Round 4. At the start of Round 3 there was 6 points between the two teams but that deficit was down to 3 points before kick-off here. The Badgers were upwardly mobile have secured their first win. Mavericks had won their first two games but just tasted defeat for the first team – could they respond?

It didn't go to plan early on if you were a fan of the Mavericks as The Badgers opened up the scoring through Michael Murray. They had the momentum coming into this game and it was continuing into this game as Michael Sim doubled the lead before half-time. A win here would be just what The Badgers needed and put them on 6 points with a game to go – Cup qualification was in their reach.

For Mavericks defeat would leave them in the same position mathematically as The Badgers but on a downward curve of form and Cup qualification would be a big ask but still possible. If they could rescue something from this game that would go a long way to help them finishing third.

Mavericks were unable to make any dents in The Badgers lead though and the sands of time ran out with The Badgers still two goals to the good. The teams were tied in mid-table on 6 points each.

Next up was the biggest game of Group B so far as the top two would meet face to face to do battle. It was RC Lens of England versus Futeboladas of Portugal – both teams had secured the maximum 9 points out of 9 so far but one of these 100% records would go in the next 20 minutes.

The only thing separating the two teams at the top of the table was goal difference. RC Lens were leading the way with +10 compared with Futeboladas +6. Futeboladas' success to date had been built on solid defence with 3 clean sheets. RC Lens had been built on attacking fervor with 12 goals in 3 games although their defence was non-too shabby either with just the two conceded. It would arguably the RC Lens attack versus the Futeboladas defence that would decide this one.

It seemed it would be the RC Lens attack who would take the initiative as Luke O'Nien scored his sixth goal of the day. At 1-0 RC Lens had the initiative, at 2-0 they had the ascendency as Kieran Turner doubled the lead. The half-time whistle blew and the English team were in command.

The second half was played out with no further addition to the score and RC Lens opened up a 3 point lead at the top of Group B. Futeboladas were still on course for Cup qualification though as they sat in 2nd place.

Whiteley FC and Depo Legends came into Round 4 with identical records of three defeats, 1 goal scored, 10 conceded and 0 points. 6 points could possibly lead to Cup qualification as one of the best 3rd placed teams but highly unlikely given the current goal difference of these two teams. More practically though it was likely that a win here would secure Plate qualification and avoid the Wooden Spoon.

It was Depo Legends who opened the scoring early on through John Shine with his team's second goal of the day. In the end it proved to be a hugely valuable goal as it was good enough to earn the Depo Legends all 3 points and their first win of the tournament.

For Whiteley FC it was a killer blow and left them rooted to the foot of Group B. There was just one game to go in the Group phase for them to try and qualify for the Plate competition.
