Mavericks and Whiteley FC both came into Round 2 after 3-0 scores. Mavericks were on the winning end, Whitely FC were on the losing end.

We saw earlier that Whiteley FC had already played at the 2010 Algarve Open. Not only is this their 2nd Algarve experience but also their 7th appearance in European action with eurofootballfives. The journey began at the 2008 Amsterdam Fives where they reached the Cup Semi-Finals and lost an 8-goal thriller, 5-3. 2011 saw a visit to the inaugural Budapest Fives with one team narrowly losing on penalties to eventual winners Al Kaloida (Hungary) in the Plate Quarter-Finals and their other team winning the 4-team Wooden Spoon convincingly in the final 6-1 against Sweden's A Magyar Pekseg.

2012 saw the start of a Mallorca Tournament trilogy. That year, Whiteley Stags went furthest of their two squads reaching the Plate Semi-Finals. In 2013, their two teams finished 5th and 6th in the group phase and both exited at the Plate Quarter-Finals stage. In 2014 they begun the day with a 2-1 win before results tailed off and they went through to the Wooden Spoon Semi-Finals. A 2-1 loss to Taylor's Tits ended their day on the field.

All that eurofootballfives.com experience seemed to count for nothing as Mavericks raced into a 4-0 lead. Craig Jones was the chief architect of the lead as he bagged a hat-trick and Mark Adamson scored his second in as many games.

Dan Froud opened Whiteley's FC account with their first of the day but it was to prove a mere consolation as Mavericks ran out 4-1 winners. For Whiteley FC it was a second defeat but in the 6-team group format they still had 3 more games to get back on track.

Depo Legends were up next against RC Lens in a game that had a similar billing as the previous game. It was a team with a win in Round 1 against a team looking to bounce back from defeat in their opening game.

As well as the 2012 Algarve Open, Depo Legends (as Deportivo Dooradoyle) had made their debut at the 2011 Amsterdam Fives. They reached the Plate Quarter-Finals with success over Goals Aloud (Wal). In the Semi-Finals they were victorious 3-1 over CEPL of Holland (who'd later become 2012 Amsterdam Fives winners) before a narrow defeat in the final to Rigford Seahawks (also 2009 Krakow Trophy & 2012 Berlin Fives Cup winners and 2009 Prague Trophy Plate winners). In 2013, Barcelona was their destination of choice where they had a very successful day – they entered two teams and won both the Plate and Trophy competitions. Berlin was the destination of choice for 2014 and it was almost more success as they reached the Plate Final again. A tough fought 0-0 draw lead to a penalty shoot-out and Scandittack FC of Germany won the shoot-out 2-0.

RC Lends were full of confidence and they showed no mercy to their experienced opponents. They took no time at all in racing into a 4-0 lead and that was only the first half. Depo Legends broke their tournament duck in the second period thanks to Tom Kelleher but his goal could not prevent the Depo Legends falling further behind.

There was a hat-trick for Luke O'Nien, a brace for Tommy Twelves and a strike for David O'Connor. Final score, 6-1.

The game that would complete Round 2 was Futeboladas against The Badgers. As with the previous two fixtures it was a team with 3 points versus a team looking to get off the mark. So far, the two teams with opening game defeats had not fared well by slipping to a 4-0 deficit. Could The Badgers fare better?

In short, they could – certainly in the early phases of the game. They gave as good as they got against Futeboladas in the first half and, just as they had in the opening game, they went into half-time all level. It was 0-0 at half-time but the goals would arrive after the interval.

It was to be Futeboladas celebrating with the opening goal of the game as Miguel Pereira scored for the second game in a row. He scored two in the first game and he was to score two in this game as he doubled the lead for the Portuguese team.

The final score of 2-0 saw Futeboladas make it two wins out of two games and they were one of three teams joint top of the table. Although it was early in the day it was emerging that was two leagues within a league in Group B.
