Next
up on the field was Team Extreme versus CIS
Committee Juniors. Team Extreme currently sat
joint top but CIS Committee Juniors were only
3 points behind them having just picked up their
first win of the day.
CIS
Committee Juniors were the second team of CIS
Committee who had been hugely successful in
our tournaments. They won the 2014 Budapest
Fives and 2014 Bratislava Fives. They also had
a runners-up appearance in Budapest in 2015
and earlier this year only failed to reach a
3rd successive Budapest Fives Cup Final when
they lost on penalties in the Semi-Final. The
“juniors” team featured a number of players
who had played for the main CIS Committee squad
so would be no pushovers.
Team
Extreme made a mockery of that last statement
though as they surged to a 2-0 lead in the first
half. Phil Kemp was the man of the moment as
he grabbed both goals to add to his double in
the first game of the tournament.
CIS
Committee Juniors hit back in the second half
through Maxim Livotchkin to reduce the deficit
to 2-1 but an equalizing goal proved elusive
as Team Extreme had enough in the locker to
see the game through and move on to a maximum
9 points.
