It was Plate Semi-Final team, 4 teams with 1 goal – to pick up the Plate winners' trophy and medals in the presentation.

The first Semi-Final would see Ben taking on Multiple Scorgasms as the third placed finishers in Group A took on the fourth placed finishers from Group B.

This would be a tough match to call. Ben had started the tournament superbly – 3 wins from their first 3 games with no goals conceded but then they lost 2-1 and 3-1 in their final 2 games (admittedly against the top 2 teams). However, wins/losses can be habit forming and confidence boosting/destroying so a quick return to form was required.

Multiple Scorgasms played well in this morning's session. They suffered narrow 2-1 defeats (to the teams who would finish 1st and 2nd in their group) before picking up 2 draws and coming into this game on the back of a morale boosting 3-0 win.

In terms of goal difference Ben were 7-5 and Multiple Scorgasms were 7-6. We expected an even contest and so it was. There was just the one goal in it during the first half and it came from Stuart Dent. It was his first of the day and what an important time to get it.

Multiple Scorgasms were on the front foot and increased their lead with Tom Sheppard and Lewis Hampton both on target in the second half. Ben Renshaw was on target for Ben – the stag fittingly scoring his team's final goal of the day. Final score, 3-1 to Multiple Scorgasms.

The second Semi-Final was Algaiga Golf versus Jackson's Five. If you looked at the group tables you would no doubt expect Algaiga Golf to go through from this tie. They had 8 points in the group phase compared to their opponents 4. They had scored more (6-4), conceded less (4-10) and naturally therefore had a better goal difference (+2, -6).

Algaiga Golf also had history to draw upon as they won the Plate here at the 2013 Mallorca Fives (playing as Son Gual). It looked all set-up for Algaiga Golf and that's how it played out in the opening period as they established a 3-1 lead. 3-1 became 4-1 in the second half and this tie looked done and dusted. There was a hat-trick for Jon and a goal for Alfredo but Will Sambrook's first half goal gave them something to build on.

Many would have thought Sambrook's goal to be a mere consolation but Jackson's Five roared back into the game. Massi Ghiani (scoring for the third consecutive game) reduced arrears to 4-2. The comeback was well and truly on when Alex Demetriou further reduced Algaiga Golf's lead to 4-3. Jackson's Five even had a chance to make it 4-4 in the final minute and force a penalty shoot-out but alas for Jackson's Five the chance went wide and with it went Jackson's Five's hopes.

Algaiga Golf were through to the Plate Final……just.
