Group B began with Algaiga Golf from Spain taking on Renshaw of England.

Algaiga Golf are the team formerly known as Son Gual. This is their sixth appearance in our Mallorca events. Their most recent appearance was at the 2017 Mallorca Tournament in June last year when they recorded 3 wins and 2 defeats to finish second in Group B. They drew 1-1 with Melee FC in the Quarters before winning 2-1 on penalties. This was the furthest they'd progressed in the tournament but they were not done yet as they defeated Mallorca Look, 2-0, in the Semi-Finals. They couldn't quite go all the way as they lost in the Cup Final to Wilmslow Whoppers.

It looked like being a good start for Algaiga Golf as they took a second half lead through Jon. Although representing Spain most of the team were originally native to South America and carried that trait of going singular names.

Renshaw showed great powers of recovery though as they turned the game on its head thanks to the goal-scoring prowess of Michael Beck. First of all he equalized and secondly he produced a winner to earn his team a very welcome 3 points. Final score, 1-2.

Next up was John Laing of England against Tito FC of Spain.

John Laing played in their first eurofootballfives.com tournament at the 2016 Barcelona Fives. They drew the proverbial group of death and finished 3rd of 8 teams behind eventual champions Elcombe Old Boys (in 2nd) and Me Toca Tirar who travelled from Madrid. Third place saw John Laing qualify for the Plate. They met Drunk Perfect in the Quarter Finals and drew 0-0 before progressing 4-3 on penalties. They then met the 2015 Cup champions (Club Esportiu Llefia) in the Semi-Finals and went out 2-0. The 2018 Mallorca Fives will be their second crack at European glory in our tournaments.

Tito FC were on debut were on debut so we would get our first glimpse of them in action shortly. It was a positive start for Tito FC as they must have thought this eurofootballfives.com lark was easy. A goal in each half from David Cabal and then Mikel Musika saw them through to a 2-0 victory.

Game 3 of Group B saw Inter Balear taking on Multiple Scorgasms.

Inter Balear (Spa) made 2 appearances in 2017 at our Mallorca Fives and our Mallorca Tournament. In the space of a month they were successful at both. In May, they won the Cup Final (playing as Valecuatro). In June, they won the Plate Final (playing as Inter Balear).

In the group phase in the May tournament they finished 2nd of 6 teams on 9 points to qualify for the Cup. They produced a sensational win in the Quarter-Finals knocking out the defending champions Mariano FC on penalties. They went from strength to strength defeating FC Broxelona A (Eng) 5-1 in the Semi Finals and Forn de N'aina (Arg) 3-0 in the Final.

In June, they could only produce 7 points from their 5 group games that saw their title defence end earlier than expected. They went through the gears in the knock-out phase as they recorded 2-0, 6-2 and 6-4 wins. Expect some goals in these games!

This therefore represented a tough start for Multiple Scorgasms but the two teams proved well matched. In fact it was the travelling English team who hit the front thanks to Lewis Hampton's strike. Two goals in the second half from Yagid Hamadma meant it was Inter Balear who emerged with all three points. Final score, 2-1.
