Inter
Balear and Renshaw could both claim a successful
morning so far – they had both reached the Cup
competition already butt he Group B title was
still up for grabs. Renshaw were in the box
seat as they had a 3 point lead over their opponents
with 4 wins from 4. Inter Balear had just tasted
defeat for the first time against Algaiga Golf
so would dearly want to bounce back before the
knock-out phase.
With
goal difference as it was (+7 Inter Balear,
+5 Renshaw) it meant that whoever won this game
would win Group B. Should the match finish in
a draw then Renshaw would finish at the summit
of the league table.
As
you might expect from the top two, this was
arguably the most fiercely contested game in
Group B. Renshaw had the edge at half-time courtesy
of a strike from Conor Glass. In the second
half Inter Balear hit back to make it 2-2 with
Juan Garcia scoring twice for the Spanish and
Elliot Albedian on target for Renshaw.
With
the game seemingly heading for a draw, Inter
Balear won it in the last minute – it was a
hat-trick for Juan Garcia. His goal earned all
3 points and the Group B win. They would also
avoid the Group A winners in the Semi-Finals.
Both teams were safely through though.
