John
Laing were next up as they hosted Multiple Scorgasms.
The two teams found themselves occupying sixth
and fifth positions respectively. With a fourth
place finish (or higher) required to continue
participation after the group phase neither
team could afford to lose this game.
John
Laing were looking for their first goal and
first points of the day but had only just narrowly
lost last time out (1-0) and they had played
the top two. If they could press the re-set
button and start again then two wins should
secure Plate qualification.
Multiple
Scorgasms had lost their first two games by
the marginal scoreline of 2-1 but had just picked
up their first point in a 1-1 draw. A win here
could move them up to fourth and into the Plate
qualification places if other results went their
way.
The
two teams played out a goal-less first half
but we were to get goals in the second half.
It was John Laing who broke the deadlock with
Sam Keisner on target. Lewis Hampton had scored
in each of the three previous rounds but he
was unable to make it four games in a row. However,
Multiple Scorgasms would find an equalizer with
Tom Sheppard scoring the goal that made it 1-1.
The
draw did not really help either side too much
– however, Multiple Scorgasms hopes were still
alive in the Plate qualification stakes. They
needed help from elsewhere as they needed Tito
FC to lose both their final games.
