AFC Blue Boys (Pol) made their debut at the 2021 Barcelona Fives and have since become familiar faces across our European tournaments, competing in Barcelona, Mallorca, Lisbon and Amsterdam. Their journey has brought plenty of memorable moments, including an unbeaten group campaign at the 2022 Barcelona Fives, where they defeated defending champions Club Esportiu Llefia 4-1 before reaching the Cup Semi-Finals, and a run to the Plate Final at their debut event. They have also enjoyed considerable success in the Veterans and Super Veterans sections, reaching the Cup Final at the 2023 Barcelona Veterans Fives after beating FC Miracle on penalties in the Semi-Finals, while their 2023 Mallorca Veterans campaign saw them reach the last four with a perfect group record. In the Open Age, they have regularly shown they can compete with strong opposition, although consistency has sometimes proved elusive. Returning to Lloret de Mar in 2026, AFC Blue Boys were looking to build on their extensive tournament experience and make another push for silverware. To this end, it had not been an ideal start for them as they had lost their opening two games. They now faced league leaders Colonel Getafe.

Colonel Getafe were looking to maintain their perfect start to the tournament and took a significant step towards doing so when Ben Watson found the net to give them a 1-0 lead. AFC Blue Boys had made a difficult start to their campaign and needed a response, but the English side proved difficult to break down. Alex Staggs and his defence were well organised, protecting their advantage and ensuring they went into the half-time interval with a clean sheet still intact. For AFC Blue Boys, the challenge was to find a way through after the restart, while Colonel Getafe knew another goal would put them in a commanding position.

That second goal duly arrived through Oli Grossman, who made it 2-0 and secured the points for Colonel Getafe. It was a professional performance from the English side, who combined attacking efficiency with defensive discipline to record their first clean sheet of the day. The victory extended their 100% winning record and kept them at the top of Group B, strengthening their early claim to be among the teams to beat. AFC Blue Boys, meanwhile, were left searching for their first points after three successive defeats, with the Polish side needing to find a way to turn their tournament experience into results in the matches ahead.

New Ham United came into this Group B encounter with a 100% record, having followed up their opening victory over APB FC with a 2-1 win against AFC Blue Boys. They were looking to maintain that perfect start and keep pace with league leaders Colonel Getafe at the top of the table. Bathletico Madridlesborough, meanwhile, had experienced mixed fortunes, losing 3-2 to Colonel Getafe before responding with an emphatic 5-2 victory over APB FC. With seven goals already scored in their opening two games, Bathletico had shown they possessed plenty of attacking firepower, and this contest would provide another opportunity to demonstrate it.

What followed was a goal-filled encounter in which Bathletico's forwards proved particularly prolific. Mark Solomon and Joshua Smith, who had both scored in New Ham United's opening fixture, were once again on target for the English side, but they were unable to contain a rampant Bathletico attack. Alex Ctori struck twice, while Ben Speak went one better, scoring three times to claim the first hat-trick in Group B. With five goals between them, Ctori and Speak spearheaded an outstanding attacking display that ultimately proved too much for New Ham United, who suffered their first defeat of the tournament despite finding the net twice themselves.

The final score of 5-2 handed Bathletico a second successive victory and took them to six points from three games, level with New Ham United. Bathletico moved ahead of their opponents on goal difference, giving their campaign a significant boost after that narrow opening defeat to Colonel Getafe. Their return of 12 goals across three matches underlined the threat they posed going forward. For New Ham United, the result was a reminder of just how competitive Group B was shaping up to be, as their perfect start came to an end and the battle to keep up with the leaders intensified.

Sporting Armada returned to action looking to put their 4-1 defeat to league leaders Colonel Getafe behind them and get their Group B campaign back on track. Having opened with a convincing 3-0 victory over AFC Blue Boys, they knew another win would take them to six points and into a congested battle for second place. APB FC, meanwhile, were still searching for their first points after losing their opening two matches, although both defeats had come against teams now occupying the joint-second positions. Unfortunately for the Irish side, there would be no easing of the challenge here, as they faced another opponent with ambitions of challenging at the top of the group.

This proved to be a much tighter affair than Sporting Armada's opening victory, with little to separate the two sides across a closely contested match. Chances and opportunities were hard-earned, and both teams knew that one mistake could prove decisive. Ultimately, it was Ryan Higgins who made the breakthrough for Sporting Armada, scoring in the first half to give the English side a precious 1-0 lead. With the contest so finely balanced, that goal took on even greater importance as APB FC tried to find a way back into the game after the interval.

Sporting Armada held firm to protect their slender advantage, securing a 1-0 victory and a second clean sheet for Tim Walters and his defence. It was a valuable three points earned through defensive discipline rather than the free-scoring display of their opening match. The result moved Armada to six points, joining two other teams in a three-way tie for second place behind the still-unbeaten Colonel Getafe, with Sporting Armada sitting third on goal difference. APB FC remained fifth and without a point, leaving the Irish team with work to do if they were to revive their hopes of reaching the knockout stages.
