With 120+ Fives tournaments since 2007 and the introduction of Sixes in 2017 we were delighted to announce our first ever Sevens tournament for the 2022 season. Amsterdam was the stage for this inaugural Sevens tournament. This was a sell-out and proved so popular that we immediately scheduled the Sevens to return in 2023 & 2024! Since then, the event has travelled to Krakow in 2024, Barcelona in 2025 and Utrecht earlier in 2026. For October 2026 our wanderlust takes us to Lloret de Mar. This will be our 150 th tournament in Europe.

The opening match of Open Age Group A was the defending champions from Barcelona, F.R. Ady (Hun), who took on tournament debutants Athletico Madridlesborough (Eng). The Hungarian side arrived in Lloret de Mar hoping to build on their previous success, but faced an Athletico team eager to make an immediate impression on their first appearance. The sides were evenly matched throughout the first half, with neither able to find the breakthrough as they went into the interval locked at 0-0.

The deadlock was eventually broken after the restart, with Sebestyen Gyula David getting on the scoresheet for F.R. Ady, while George Hayward found the net for Athletico Madridlesborough to ensure the newcomers had a goal to celebrate on their debut. Neither side could find a decisive second strike, and the contest finished 1-1. It was a share of the spoils in an encouraging start for Athletico, while the defending champions had to settle for a point as the battle for Cup qualification got underway.

TEAM Polonia Limerick (Pol) is a new but old team. It is an off-shoot of Polonia Limerick and is a separate team to “Polonia Limerick”. The team first competed under this new guise at the 2025 Barcelona Fives in a merger with AFC Blue Boys. It was a difficult campaign for them last year as they opened up with a 4-1 defeat to Easter Island FC before a 1-1 draw with Just A Boy FC. A 2-0 loss followed to Argon'ze A and Cream of the South before a 3-1 defeat to Berkshirelona FC. They finished 6 th in the table and missed out on the knockout phase. TEAM Polonia Limerick (and AFC Blue Boys) are back this year with separate teams to challenge for honours. TEAM Polonia Limerick would begin their campaign against RAF Boulmer (more on them later).

TEAM Polonia Limerick made an impressive start to their 2026 Lloret de Mar Sevens campaign, securing a convincing 4-1 victory over England's RAF Boulmer in Group A. Kuba Cieloch was the standout performer, helping himself to a hat-trick as the Polish side established their control of the contest. RAF Boulmer had their moments, but Polonia's attacking threat proved difficult to contain as they looked to lay down an early marker in the race for Cup qualification.

Daniel Zwiegla added a fourth for TEAM Polonia Limerick to round off an excellent team performance, while Harry McClurg got RAF Boulmer on the scoresheet with a consolation goal. The 4-1 result gave Polonia a valuable three points and a healthy goal difference, providing a strong foundation for the group-stage campaign. RAF Boulmer, meanwhile, will look to respond in their next fixture as they aim to get their tournament up and running.

JK Silvertown join us for a seventh time on tour and a first appearance in the Open Age section since the 2022 Amsterdam Sevens. In the intervening years they have participated in our Veterans and Super Veterans events. In the Open Age section they have produced two Cup Semi-Final appearances (2017 & 2018 Amsterdam Fives) and were eliminated after the group phase at the 2022 Amsterdam Sevens. Today, JK Silvertown would open their campaign against Dumpling CF.

JK Silvertown made a strong start to their 2026 Lloret de Mar Sevens campaign, taking on Dumpling CF in the third match of Group A. Silvertown opened the scoring through their number 7 to establish an early advantage, but it was Bobby Rusbridge who soon took centre stage. Rusbridge proved too much for the Dumpling defence to handle, finding the net three times to turn a competitive contest into a commanding lead for Silvertown. His hat-trick gave his side a firm grip on the match and put them in an excellent position to claim all three points.

Dumpling CF refused to go quietly and managed to get themselves on the scoresheet through their number 10, offering a response after Silvertown's prolific spell in front of goal. However, it proved to be only a consolation as JK Silvertown saw out the remainder of the match to secure a convincing 4-1 victory. Rusbridge's treble was the clear highlight of the contest, while Silvertown will be pleased to have opened their group campaign with an emphatic win. Dumpling, meanwhile, will look to regroup quickly as the battle for a place in the knockout stages continues.
