New Ham United (Eng) made their debut with us 12 months ago at the 2025 Barcelona Sevens. It was a tricky start against Colonel Getafe (lost 6-0) before they picked up a debut win against Southgate County (2-1). They then lost to group winners CF Don (4-2) and World Pinteur (3-1). They ended the group phase in style with a 4-1 win over Postbusters FC to finish in third place in the table and qualify for the Plate. They defeated Cruz Del Sur 3-0 in the Plate Semi-Finals to set up a final against Milner Street. Milner Street won 4-2 as New Ham United collected runners-up medals in the presentation.

Today they'd got off to a much better start with a 2-1 win over APB FC and were looking to continue in that same vein against AFC Blue Boys. The Polish team had suffered a 3-0 setback to Sporting Armada first time out and were looking to bonce back quickly. AFC Blue Boys made the better start and took the lead through Alex Pastuka, giving the Polish side a welcome boost after that opening defeat. They carried that advantage into half-time, with New Ham United trailing 1-0 and needing to find a response if they were to maintain their 100% start to the tournament. Having already shown against APB FC that they could grind out a result, New Ham United now faced another test of their resilience against opponents desperate to get their first points on the board.

The second half brought the response New Ham United were looking for as Mihai Harizomenov found the net to bring the scores level at 1-1. With momentum now shifting towards the English side, JP Azevedo then completed the turnaround by scoring to make it 2-1. AFC Blue Boys had gone from being in front at the interval to chasing the game, and New Ham United did enough to protect their advantage and secure a second successive victory. It was another encouraging result for the English team, who had shown character to come from behind, while AFC Blue Boys were left still searching for their first points in Group B.

The zenith of Colonel Getafe's achievements was at the 2023 Krakow Trophy. Fresh from a Cup SF in Amsterdam, it was an even better run for them in Poland. They started off with 3 wins on the bounce (2-0 v Alea Iacta Est, 3-0 v TaHu and 10-1 v Krwiodawcow) before a 1-1 draw with Skidmarks. They returned to winning ways (3-1) over Moles Salah to win Group B. In the Cup Semi-Finals they saw off the challenge of Portugal's RAF (2-1) to set-up a Cup Final against Turn Down For Watford. The match finished 2-2 in normal time but they triumphed 2-1 on penalties to lift the title.

Colonel Getafe had begun well with a 3-2 win over Bathletico Madridlesborough and now faced the challenge of Sporting Armada. Armada themselves had begun with a win (3-0) as both teams would battle for the early ascendency in Group B and seek out a win that would see the victor join New Ham United at the top of the table. These two teams both competed in Barcelona last year and had Colonel Getafe won their penalty shoot-out in the semi-finals, this would have been the Cup Final pairing.

Sporting Armada continued their strong start when Will Wood found the net to put the English side 1-0 ahead, making it two goals in as many games for the Armada scorer. Colonel Getafe, however, were not about to let their opponents take control of the contest. Cameron Saycell brought the Spanish side level at 1-1, ensuring the teams went into the interval all square after an entertaining first half.

It was Colonel Getafe who seized that opportunity after the restart, with Oli Grossman putting them ahead at 2-1 before striking again to extend the advantage to 3-1. Sporting Armada had started brightly, but the experienced Spanish outfit were now firmly in the driving seat. Cameron Saycell then completed the scoring to seal a convincing 4-1 victory, his second goal of the match putting the result beyond doubt. It was an impressive response from Colonel Getafe after falling behind, and their second win in succession strengthened their position near the top of Group B. For Sporting Armada, the opening 3-0 victory was followed by a tougher contest here, as they were left looking to bounce back in their next fixture.

Both Bathletico Madridlesborough and APB FC came into this Group B encounter looking to bounce back after opening defeats. Bathletico had impressed in spells against Colonel Getafe but ultimately went down 3-2, while APB FC were still searching for their first points after a 2-1 loss to New Ham United. Bathletico made the brighter start, taking the lead through Tom Goldstone, but the Irish side responded well. APB FC's Matthew Nugent brought the scores level before Shane Scollan scored to turn the match around. Having started the contest behind, APB FC went into half-time with a 2-1 advantage and the opportunity to put their first points on the board.

Bathletico needed another strong second-half performance to get back into the game, and that was exactly what they produced. Goldstone scored his second of the match to make it 2-2, giving the English side renewed belief and setting the stage for an impressive turnaround. Ben Speak then put Bathletico back in front at 3-2, before Alex Ctori extended their advantage to two goals. APB FC had enjoyed the better of the first half in terms of the scoreline, but Bathletico were now making their attacking quality count as the game opened up.

Matthew Hind added a fifth goal to complete a commanding 5-2 victory for Bathletico Madridlesborough. It was a significant response after their narrow defeat to Colonel Getafe, and another demonstration of their strength after the interval. In both of their matches so far, Bathletico had produced much stronger second-half displays, showing the determination and attacking threat to change the course of a game. They could take real encouragement from this comeback win, while APB FC were left to reflect on a second defeat despite having led at half-time. The Irish side would need to find a way to turn promising spells into points as Group B continued.
