The first Plate Semi-Final was between St Paul's College Old Boys and The Dave Cole Minors. St Paul's College Old Boys had made one previous appearance at Plate level and it was a pretty good one – they went all the way to glory in Amsterdam, July 2014.

St Paul's College Old Boys were bidding to be the 6th team in eurofootballfives.com history to win multiple Plate competitions. They started off well in this fixture by taking a 2-1 lead into the break thanks to Andrew Sprosen and Lewis Howard. Antonio Vernaschi's 7th goal of the tournament kept his team in the hunt.

Antonio Vernaschi scored another in the second half with Pete Tolkien also scoring for the Dave Cole Minors. Sadly for them there was a Paul Rodgers goal for St Paul's College Old Boys meaning the match would finish level at 3-3.

Games that finish level in the knock-out phase would be decided by a penalty shoot-out. Three spot kicks each and then sudden death (if required). St Paul's College Old Boys won the 2014 Amsterdam Fives Plate Final courtesy of a penalty shoot-out and penalties were to be their friends here too as they triumphed 3-2.

St Paul's College Old Boys were through to another Plate Final. The Dave Cole Minors would now have a watching brief for the rest of the tournament – the bar awaited them for a well-earned beer and they also had their mates playing for Tekkerslovakia to cheer on in the Cup.

So, who would meet St Paul's College Old Boys in the Plate Final? It would be either Team Bear II or Multiple Scoregasms.

Team Bear II were bidding to become the 4th team in eurofootballfives.com history to claim victory in both Cup and Plate competitions. Rigford Seahawks had 2 Cups and 2 Plates, FC Radbroke had 2 Cups and 1 Plate and Equipo A of Spain had 1 Cup and 1 Plate in Barcelona.

Multiple Scoregasms and Team Bear II had both reached the Cup competition in their previous eurofootballfives.com tours so both may well fancy their chances of picking up a trophy in this competition. After the early exchanges it looked like it would be Team Bear II who had the best chance of achieving this goal as they raced into a 3-0 lead in the opening period. Chris Tanner got them off to a flyer with a double (Goals #9 and #10 on the day for him) with Rhys Tyrrell also finding the back of the net.

There was a comeback in the second half for Multiple Scoregasms with three goals of their own courtesy of Stuart Dunlop and Luke Wilczek (2). The damage was already done in the first half though and goals from Chris Tanner (to complete his third hat-trick of the day) and Tyrrell again ensured that it would be Team Bear II who advanced - they had a final to prepare for……
