The
2014 Barcelona Fives Trophy Final would see El
Combe Old Boys meet SV Zoo. Let's have a look
at our two contenders;
El
Combe Old Boys
Historically
speaking it was their second eurofootballfives.com
Final after success in the 2010 Algarve Open (as
Vodafone FC). Today they had a record which read
2 wins, 3 draws and just the one defeat. They
had scored 10 goals and conceded just 5. They
were yet to concede in the knock-out phase of
the tournament and had scored 7 goals without
reply.
SV
Zoo
SV
Zoo were playing in their fourth knock-out eurofootballfives
tournament and would now be playing in their second
final having won their first – the 2012 Krakow
Trophy Plate. Today their record read played six,
won three, lost three, scoring 12 and conceding
14.
It
was El Combe Old Boys who opened the scoring through
Matt Hall and the English team extended their
lead to 3-0. It looked an unassailable lead but
they could not count on victory just yet – SV
Zoo had come from 3-0 down to win 4-3 against
Krakow Team in the 2012 Krakow Trophy Plate Final.
Today
though 3-0 became 4-0 and killed off the German
challenge and the victory was then complete at
5-0. Matt Hall grabbed a second of the Final plus
there were goals for Gareth Warren and Marcus
Faure. There was also a fifth goal of the tournament
for Andrew Hampshire – just one less than his
haul of six goals which put him third top goalscorer
in the 2013 Barcelona Fives.
It
was a superb victory for the English team who
won the Trophy without conceding in the knock-out
phase and scoring 12 in the process. They finished
the tournament with the joint second best goal
difference overall so showed they can compete
at a higher level. The 2014 Barcelona Fives Trophy
Winners – El Combe Old Boys.
