Group C was starting to take shape and we went into Game 6 with all to play for. Next on Pitch B was Fifty Shades of O Shea versus The Matt-Adors.

Fifty Shades of O Shea had started well with victory but had just tasted a heavy defeat. The Matt-Adors began with a 1-0 loss before progressing to a 1-1 draw. It is often said in our tournaments that momentum is quite an asset to possess and it was The Matt-Adors who were on an upward trajectory of form.

This ascendant form continued as they produced their first win of the day to move up into second position in the table (admittedly with 3 teams in Group C now having a game in hand). Daniel Trueman got the ball rolling before Peter Howlett and Gianluca Petri added themselves to the scoresheet.

Fifty Shades of O Shea were scoring goals with Aodhan Burns adding to his tally in this game. The fact they were scoring should give them some comfort but the fact they were leaking at the other end was cause for concern as they slipped to fourth position.

Peebles All Stars entered their 3rd game of Group C in 5th place but a win could put them right back in it and it would mean just 2 points would separate all 5 teams. In their way stood Prospe FC who would come into the game on a 100% record so the task for the Scots was a tough one.

Prospe FC continued their form from their opening two games and opened up a two-nil lead in this thanks to strikes from Javier Olano Hernandez and David Puyol Izquierdo. It was Izquierdo's fifth goal of the tournament and he had scored in every game to date.

Prospe FC were yet to concede a goal and so a two goal deficit meant that Peebles All Stars had a mountain to climb. If climbing mountains wasn't difficult enough, their task got even tougher when Enrique Serrano Gutierrez extended the lead to 3-0.

Prospe FC maintained their 100% record and, as things currently stood, had a 5 point lead at the top of Group C. They were looking formidable having scored 9 goals without reply.

Red Cow Belgrade had a game in hand on all their Group C opponents and could reclaim second position if they could take a win against The Matt-Adors – the team currently above them by a point. This could easily be a shoot-out for second position and whoever won would be almost sure of second in the table (although Fifty Shades of O Shea still had a hand in proceedings).

For Red Cow Belgrade this would be an intriguing match to see how they would bounce back from a 5-0 defeat. Pretty well was the response as we reached the interval with the deadlock still unbroken and all level at 0-0. A draw would make life extremely difficult for both teams to make the Cup so they really needed to push on for a win. In the end we were to find a winner and it was just the one goal to settle it. That goal came from Joe Howitt of Red Cow Belgrade. He had fired his team to victory and still had every chance of qualifying for the Cup.

The Matt-Adors would be unable to add to their tally of four points as they'd played their final group game. The defeat was a big blow to them and it looked like the Plate awaited them this afternoon. There were still a couple of games to go though.

Next up we had the game between Fifty Shades of O Shea versus Prospe FC to enjoy. Prospe FC still lead the table and were effectively the champions elect. For them to miss out on the Group C title they would have to lose this game, Red Cow Belgrade would have to win their last game and there to be an 8 goal swing in goal difference. Prospe FC could take any element of chance out of it by claiming a draw but we are sure they would be gunning for victory to end the group with four wins out of four.

Fifty Shades of O Shea had started brighty but had since seen form taper off. Perhaps they were better off playing with hangovers rather than the presence of sobriety. They could still make the Plate with victory here but they had a tough ask. There was little between the teams in the opening period but Prospe FC edged it through Javier Ortega.

The second half kicked off at 1-0 to the Spanish and would go on to finish 4-1. Ortega doubled his tally whilst Luiz Perez Luis Perez Febrero and Carlos Perez Garcia also scored. Prospe FC had won Group C in style with a 100% record and recorded the second best goal difference of all teams in the group phase.

For Fifty Shades of O Shea there was to be a little consolation as Aodhan Burns became the first man to score past Denail Bello Sloane in the Prospe FC goal today.

The final game of Group C would see Peebles All Stars host Red Cow Belgrade. At stake for Red Cow Belgrade was a place in the Cup competition. They were already assured of second position in the table (a fine achievement in itself) but they had to do all they could to ensure their second place was one of the three best across Groups A to E to make the Cup. A win would put them on 9 points and give them a fighting chance. A draw or loss would almost certainly see them miss out.

For Peebles All Stars it was a last opportunity in the group phase to claim a maiden victory to add to the point they picked up in their second fixture. They fought hard and at half-time the teams could not be divided. All was level at 0-0.

The first goal was always going to be crucial and when it came it was scored by Ben Wooler of Red Cow Belgrade. When Daz Bray made it 2-0 they were on their way to 9 points but goal difference was looking like it could be a factor so how many could they get? Final score was 3-0 as Ben Wooler scored his second of the game.

As it turned out it was not quite enough for Red Cow Belgrade as they fell short by the narrowest of margins. They were one of four second placed teams to finish on 9 points and they missed out on goal difference. Red Cow Belgrade had +4 compared to their competitors +5, +6 and +8.

Peebles All Stars would qualify for this afternoon's Trophy competition.
