There were just two more games standing between the four remaining teams and glory as we reached the Plate Semi-Finals. It was Holland versus England in the first Plate Semi-Final as ADP Netherlands took on Red Cow Belgrade. At stake was a place in the 2014 Barcelona Fives Plate Final.

ADP Netherlands had proven tough opposition all day with 3 wins and 2 draws they were still unbeaten at this stage. Red Cow Belgrade had a blip in their second game but had won their four other matches – both teams were in great form.

ADP Netherlands had scored 11 goals in the Quarter-Finals but were finding Dom Leonard and the rest of the Red Cow Belgrade defence a much tougher nut to crack. Red Cow Belgrade had kept 3 clean sheets in their previous 3 games and that record would now read 4 clean sheets in 4 games. Peter Werff was as obstinate in the ADP Netherlands goal as he rebuffed all that Red Cow Belgrade could throw at him. We ended goalless, 0-0.

We would need a penalty shoot-out to decide this tie. It was goalkeepers on top in normal time but it was certainly the shooting boots of the outfield players who were on top in the shoot-out. Daz Bray and Nico Spoel both scored their teams' opening spot-kicks. Remco Nijland/Tom Goyski, Jeoren Quispel/Joe Smith and Jan Van Rabenswaaij/Ben Wooler all kept a perfect record in rounds two, three and four of the shoot-out.

It was the fifth round of penalties that would prove decisive – Joe Howitt scored, Peter Werff thundered his strike against the crossbar and out. Red Cow Belgrade were victorious.

It was farewell to ADP Netherlands who had played in their third tournament with us in the last 12 months (Barcelona x 2, Amsterdam x 1). We really appreciate your support of our events and, as always, was good to see you on tour.

Naranjitos and Missing Magpies met in the second Semi-Final. Missing Magpies were in a second eurofootballfives.com Semi-Final having reached the Cup Semi-Final at the 2012 Amsterdam Fives where they went down to Athletico Do Hollande who have 3 eurofootballfives.com titles to their name….certainly no shame in going down to a quality team like that.

Earlier on we touched on the fact that Missing Magpies had some Saipan FC experience in their ranks and Saipan FC certainly know how to win Semi-Finals with four wins out of four including a Cup Semi-Final win here in Barcelona back in 2012. Could that success rub off on the Missing Magpies?

Naranjitos were in unchartered territory and had impressed to date so it would be interesting to see how they fared as the games got tougher and the crowds got bigger on the touchlines. They seemed to be adjusting to the requirements pretty well and the two teams went into half-time level at 1-1. Pete Bell's fifth goal of the day and Javier Hernandez Torres's first goal of the day cancelled each other out.

After the break Javier Sanchez Flores put Naranjitos ahead and really put the pressure on Missing Magpies and meant the next goal would be pivotal. Could the Spanish team put themselves in control at 3-1 or could the English team take it to set-up a thrilling finale at 2-2. It was Jorge Bayer Saez with his fourth goal of the day who settled affairs.

There was no way back for Missing Magpies who went out at the Semi-Final stage for their second tournament in a row. We are positive there is a Final in the offing for them in the future and we very much hope they can join us again.
