We started the second half of Group B with an epic tussle ahead of us. 2012 Valencia Fives Winners met the 2014 Powerade Winners in the shape of Hungary's FC Miracle against England's West One Three.

It was a game we had looked forward to since the tournament   draw was made and results so far today had certainly meant it was looking to be just as tasty an encounter as we had expected. The two teams came into the game in fine form – both had 100% records, maximum points and the goals were flowing – 20 between them in the four games they had played.

This was a heavyweight contest and no mistake. We weren't treated to the free-scoring games we'd seen so far. Instead this was a battle with very little to choose between the two teams. We reached half-time still level at 0-0 with both sides still seeking to land the knockout blow.

Eventually the goal did come and when it did it was James McCluskey who separated the two teams. It was his fifth goal of the campaign already and meant he had scored in every game so far – a fine record.

There was no way back for FC Miracle and it was West One Three who maintained their 100% record – surely they were the Group B champions elect now.

We turned our attentions to the lower half of Group B and Notlob FC versus BCN Raiders. Notlob FC arguably had their two most difficult fixtures out the way so could look to press on in the table – hopefully the opening two defeats hadn't taken too much out of them in effort and confidence.

BCN Raiders had looked like claiming their first win of the day in the last fixture before being pegged back by Balotellitubbies. They opened the scoring again here as Pedro Rodriguez Quinteros opened his personal account for the day. Could they convert a good start to three points this time?

Yes they could. Quinteros added a second of the game for him and Jesus Lordae scored his second in successive games to round off a 3-0 win for BCN Raiders. The Spanish Bolivians (or Bolivian Spanish?) moved on to four points and were looking good for third position with games running out.

Sadly for Notlob FC fans, they remained rooted to the bottom of Group B.

Game 8 of Group B saw Balotellitubbies hoping to move up the table to chase Plate qualification. In their way stood the formidable obstacle of West One Three. The English team had been resplendent so far and needed just a draw to secure the Group B title and ensure a successful start to their Barcelona Fives campaign.

With 3 wins, 9 points, 10 goals scored and just one conceded it was no surprise to see West One Three open up an early two goal cushion. It was also no surprise to see James McCluskey as the man tucking the ball in the net with #6 and #7 for him – surely a contender for the Top Goalscorer award.

West One Three were not to have it all their own way though as Balotellitubbies hit back. With 5 goals in 2 games they were not shy in front of goal and they stormed back into it and pulled off a great 3-3 draw. Surely, for most observers, this was an unexpected and bonus point. It was a quality result for the Irish team as goals from Ruairi Burns (2) and Bela Deak Vecsi (who had now scored in all 3 games) saw them earn their second draw of the day.

Lee Currie, with his second of the day, was the scorer of the third goal for West One Three. The result was enough to see them safely through as Group B winners.

Game 9 was the battle for second position in Group B. FC Miracle currently sat in second position on 6 points whilst BCN Raiders occupied third on 4 points. FC Miracle needed a win or a draw to secure second position. A win was really the order of the day to stake a strong claim for Cup qualification as one of the three best 2nd placed teams.

For BCN Raiders, a second place finish would be a great achievement in Group B but regardless of this result and their final position they would probably find themselves in the Plate competition. A win would certainly put them through with some momentum and give them a theoretically easier Quarter-Final draw.

It was honours even at half-time with goals from Jesus Lordae (BCN Raiders) and Laszlo Horvath (FC Miracle) cancelling each other out. You sensed FC Miracle needed the result more and perhaps that lead to the carnage in the second half – FC Miracle were some team going forward. 11 goals in their first two games including four in the second half of Game 1. They were to score four more in the second half of Game 9. Janos Molnar (2), Zeno Hegedus and Zsolt Laszlo powered FC Miracle to a 5-1 win. As it turned out, it was good enough to see them qualify for the Cup – congratulations.

To conclude Group B we had Notlob FC versus Balotellitubbies. Both teams were looking for a win but Balotellitubbies would go into the game as favourites as they had only lost one of their three games. In fact, a win for Balotellitubbies would see them take third place. A win for Notlob FC would see them overtake their opponents to claim fourth place in the table.

If you wanted to see goals then Balotellitubbies were certainly a team to watch. They started Group B with a five-goal opening half against FC Miracle and they repeated the feat here in the final game. The difference this time was that they lead rather than trailed by a 3-2 scoreline.

In a very open game, Notlob FC were able to boost their “Goals For” column with two more goals for Matt Bowman (three for the tournament) and Richard Claxton scoring his first of the day. Sadly for them it was not enough to earn their first points of the day as Balotellitubbies won it with a two goal cushion, 5-3.

Bela Deak Vecsi continued his record of scoring in every game with a brace, Steven Markey increased his tally on the day from two to four and Ruari Burns added his third strike of the tournament. Balotellitubbies finished third and qualified for the Plate.
