The Cup Final of the 2026 Super Veterans tournament brought together Polonia Limerick and AFV Valles Maresme. This was the climax of the day's festivities and the match lived up to every expectation.

Let's have a look at the two team's record to preview the action:

Polonia Limerick were hunting down a third successive Super Veterans title and would start as strong favourites. In 17 games at Super Vets level they were unbeaten, today they had 5 wins out of 5 and they had scored 15 whilst conceding just 3. To add to the evidence, these two teams had played in the group phase and Polonia Limerick emerged as 3-0 winners. That was the only game AFV Valles Maresme had lost and they had won their other 4 games so they could not be ignored. Their goal difference of 10-7 (compared to Polonia's 15-3) had shown these wins were harder fought. However, this was now a one off match and if they can replicate the performance that saw them race into a 4-0 lead against FC Miracle they were very capable of stopping Polonia Limerick. They would start as underdogs though.

The Cup Final began with an early exchange of bookings, an indication that neither side was prepared to give an inch in the battle for the tournament's biggest prize. It was AFV Valles Maresme who struck first, with Serji Xena Ramon putting the Spanish side 1-0 ahead and giving the debutants a dream start. Polonia Limerick, chasing a third consecutive Super Veterans crown, responded through Artur Sukiennik, who levelled the score at 1-1. Sukiennik had now found the net in three consecutive games at the business end of the tournament, proving his value when the stakes were highest. With the scores level, the final was finely poised, Jordi Barich Marquez restored the Spanish side's lead at 2-1, putting them back in front and bringing the defending champions' remarkable unbeaten run under serious threat.

Polonia Limerick now had to find another response, but instead it was AFV Valles Maresme who delivered the decisive blow. Juan Monionelli Savri made it 3-1, giving the Spanish side a two-goal cushion and leaving the Polish champions with a mountain to climb in the closing stages. The final whistle confirmed a famous 3-1 victory for AFV Valles Maresme, whose three goals came from players who had all increased their tournament tallies from three to four. After racing into a 4-0 lead against FC Miracle in the semi-final, the Spaniards had demonstrated that their attacking threat could trouble even the strongest opposition, and they produced another outstanding performance when it mattered most. Polonia Limerick had entered the final with a perfect record of five wins from five, but the final proved a different challenge from their earlier 3-0 group-stage victory over the same opponents.

For Polonia Limerick, the defeat will be a bitter pill to swallow after such a dominant tournament campaign and a historic run at Super Veterans level. They had arrived chasing a third consecutive title, having won the championships in Porto in 2024 and Barcelona in 2025, and had looked well placed to complete the hat-trick after winning every match on the day. Their 17-game unbeaten run finally came to an end at the final hurdle, but it should not overshadow the consistency and quality they have shown across three tournaments. With 15 goals scored and only three conceded before the final, they had once again established themselves as one of the benchmark sides in the competition. Although the trophy will not be returning home this year, Polonia Limerick can take pride in another impressive campaign and will surely remain a formidable force when they return to defend their reputation next time.

Huge congratulations to AFV Valles Maresme on becoming the 2026 Super Veterans champions in their very first appearance at this level. To defeat the defending champions in the final after losing 3-0 to them in the group phase makes the achievement all the more remarkable. They showed tremendous character to recover from that earlier setback. Their journey from debutants to champions has been one of the outstanding stories of the tournament, and they can enjoy their celebrations tonight.

Thank you to all the teams who competed – it was a fantastic day. We hope to see you all again at another eurofootballfives.com tournament very soon.
