Tavria
and Polonia Limerick renewed their rivalry in
Lloret de Mar, having previously met at the 2025
edition of the tournament in Barcelona. On that
occasion, Polonia Limerick came out on top with
a 2–1 victory, with both sides eventually finishing
in the top two places in their group. This year's
meeting proved to be another entertaining contest
between two familiar opponents.
Polonia
made the perfect start once again, with Lech Madejek
opening the scoring. It continued an outstanding
run for the Polonia forward, who had now found
the net in each of the team's first three games.
Tavria responded to level the match, however,
and the Ukrainian side ensured the scores were
tied at 1–1 going into half-time.
Polonia
regained the lead after the restart when Colm
Hyland scored his second goal in as many games.
Tavria once again refused to go away, finding
another equaliser to make it 2–2 and set up a
thrilling finish. With both teams pushing for
the decisive goal, the match remained finely poised
before Polonia finally began to pull clear. Madejek
struck again to complete his brace and put Polonia
back in front at 3–2, before Aiden Hyland added
a fourth. It was another goal for Hyland, who
had now also scored in three consecutive games,
underlining the attacking form of the Polonia
side. The final whistle confirmed a 4–2 victory
for Polonia Limerick, maintaining their perfect
start and giving them another win over Tavria
after last year's success in Barcelona. Polonia
Limerick made it 3 wins out of 3 with 9 goals
scored, they were looking formidable.

The
Warriors made their tournament debut with eurofootballfives.com
at the 2015 Algarve Veterans Tournament and
have since built a long history of competing
across Europe. Their standout early successes
included reaching the Plate Final in 2015 and
the Cup Semi-Finals in Lisbon in 2016. They
went one better in Mallorca in 2017, beating
WEEDS Youth and Dickie Dogs to lift the Plate,
while subsequent tournaments in Algarve, Alicante
and Lisbon saw them regularly compete for knockout
places.
The
Warriors' recent record has been at Super Vets
level, impressively in Porto in 2024, remaining
unbeaten in four of their six games and finishing
in the bronze medal position. In Barcelona last
year they opened with a win and a draw but suffered
three defeats thereafter, narrowly missing the
knockout phase on goal difference. With years
of tournament experience behind them, The Warriors
arrived in Lloret de Mar looking to return to
the latter stages and challenge for silverware
once again. So far it hadn't gone to plan with
two defeats. They were now up against fellow
English side Bushells Old Boys who also had
two narrow defeats.
Bushells
started brightly and soon found themselves in
front when Josh Sirrett opened the scoring.
The Warriors struggled to find a response, allowing
Bushells to build on their early advantage.
Bushells continued to look the more dangerous
side and doubled their lead when Neil Morgan
found the net. The two-goal advantage gave Bushells
control of the match and they were able to see
out the remainder of the opening half without
conceding. At the interval, Bushells Old Boys
were firmly in command at 2–0.
The
second half saw Bushells continuing to press
forward in search of another goal. Their efforts
were rewarded when Paul Johnstone made it 3–0,
putting the result increasingly beyond The Warriors'
reach. With goalkeeper Terry Cosgrove and his
defence protecting a comfortable lead, a clean
sheet looked to be firmly on the cards. The
Warriors did, however, manage to find a consolation
late on when Simon Parkinson got his name on
the scoresheet. It denied the Bushells defence
the shutout they had been heading towards, but
could do little to change the outcome. Bushells
Old Boys ran out 3–1 winners, securing a fine
victory and leaving The Warriors still searching
for their first points of the tournament.

Polonia
Limerick came into the tournament as winners of
the 2024 & 2025 editions of this event. Over
that period in Porto, Barcelona and so far today
they had played 15 games at Super Veterans level
in eurofootballfives.com competition with 12 wins,
3 draws, 0 defeats scoring 41 goals in the process
and conceding just 8. They were up against their
toughest task so far today against AFV Valles
Maresme who had 2 wins out of 2 today.
With
neither team having dropped a point today, there
was plenty at stake as they faced off for early
supremacy. Valles Maresme had also yet to concede
a goal in the tournament, but that impressive
record was soon put under serious pressure by
a confident Polonia side. Polonia Limerick made
the breakthrough when Colm Hyland found the net
in the first half. It was Hyland's third goal
of the tournament and, significantly, the first
goal that the Spanish side had conceded during
the day. Valles Maresme were unable to respond
before the interval, leaving Polonia with a narrow
1–0 advantage at half-time.
Polonia
continued to control the contest after the restart
and extended their lead through Remigiusz Sarbak.
With Valles Maresme now needing two goals simply
to draw level, the Polish side remained on the
front foot and soon added a third when Artur Sukiennik
found the net. The final whistle confirmed an
impressive 3–0 victory for Polonia Limerick, preserving
their perfect record and establishing them as
clear leaders at the top of the group. Hyland's
opener ended Valles Maresme's defensive resistance
before Sarbak and Sukiennik completed a convincing
win, giving Polonia three more valuable points
as the group stage moved towards its conclusion.

| Tavria
and Bushells Old Boys met in a game that was crucial
for both teams qualification hopes. Both teams
currently sat on 3 points and a win for either
team would secure the victor's safe passage into
the next round. In fact, if the teams drew then
they could both guarantee Plate qualification
at the expense of The Warriors. It was clear though
that neither team were playing for a draw. Bushells
quickly established control and opened the scoring
through Steve Lacey, giving Tavria an early deficit
to overcome. The Ukrainian side struggled to find
a way back into the contest as Bushells continued
to press.
Bushells
doubled their advantage when Danny Wood found
the net, putting further pressure on Tavria. The
English side were firmly in the ascendancy and
added a third before the interval, with Neil Morgan
completing the scoring in the opening half. Tavria
went into the break facing a three-goal deficit
at 0–3. The Ukrainian side showed greater resilience
after the restart and managed to get themselves
on the scoresheet. Vyacheslav Kondratenko pulled
a goal back for Tavria, giving them something
to build on and ensuring Bushells could not simply
cruise through the remainder of the match. Despite
Tavria's second-half improvement, Bushells Old
Boys held on to their advantage and secured a
3–1 victory. Lacey, Wood and Morgan had done the
damage before half-time, while Kondratenko's consolation
provided Tavria with some reward for their improved
second-half showing.

| In
the final game of Group A, The Warriors needed
a big win to move level with Tavria and progress
at the Ukrainians's expense via goal difference.
AFV Valles Maresme needed a point or better to
go through to the Cup in second position. A defeat
would see them finish in third place and drop
to the Plate with Bushells Old Boys going through
to the Cup instead.
It
was AFV Valles Maresme who made the brighter start,
with Ivan Monionell Savri finding the net to put
the Spanish team in front. The Warriors were unable
to respond before Savri struck again, giving Valles
Maresme a 2–0 advantage. The Warriors went into
half-time two goals down but came out with renewed
determination after the restart. Their efforts
were rewarded when Andy Chrascina pulled a goal
back to make it 2–1, giving the English side hope
of completing a comeback. For a period, The Warriors
looked to have given themselves a route back into
the contest.
Any
hopes of a comeback were extinguished when Savri
completed his hat-trick, restoring Valles Maresme's
two-goal advantage at 3–1. The Spanish side continued
to look dangerous and eventually added a fourth
through Jordi Barich Marquez, putting the result
beyond doubt. The final whistle confirmed a 4–1
victory for AFV Valles Maresme. The result confirmed
the Spanish team's qualification for the Cup competition.
Sadly for The Warriors it meant their tournament
was over as they would finish fifth in the table.
