The Lloret de Mar Super Veterans (45+) 7-a-side Tournament marked the third edition of this tournament since its debut in 2024. Porto was the venue for the inaugural event with Barcelona staging the competition 12 months ago. Lloret de Mar was the location for 2026 and it was another fantastic occasion blessed with top-quality facilities, and a truly international line-up, the day promised everything that makes this tournament series so special — great football, great camaraderie, and a shared passion for the beautiful game which is played in a great spirit.

This year's edition brought together teams from England, Hungary, Ireland, Poland, Spain and the Ukraine, each adding their own flair and spirit to the competition. With plenty of goals, drama, and memorable moments, the stage was perfectly set for another memorable tournament in Lloret de Mar.

Tavria of Ukraine opened in Group A against England's The Warriors in a tightly contested encounter. We'll preview each in more detail as we progress with this report. On the pitch, with both sides cancelling each other out during the opening exchanges, neither team was able to find the breakthrough before the interval. The deadlock remained intact at half-time, with the score locked at 0–0.

The second half saw Tavria begin to find the decisive edge they had been searching for. Their pressure eventually paid off when Andrii Khoruzhev found the back of the net to put the Ukrainian side in front. The goal gave Tavria the momentum they needed and left The Warriors facing an uphill task as they looked to respond. Tavria continued to press their advantage and were rewarded with a second goal. Oleksii Marchenko struck to make it 2–0, putting Tavria firmly in control of the contest. The Warriors were unable to find a way back into the match as Tavria protected their advantage through the closing stages. The Warriors were in the game throughout but they didn't take their chances when the opportunities arose, Tavria did and took all 3 points.

Polonia Limerick and Bushells Old Boys went into their opening game of the Lloret de Mar Sevens with a little extra history between the sides. A couple of the Bushells Old Boys players had featured for Pork Vale against Polonia Limerick in Barcelona last year, when the Polish side ran out emphatic 10–1 winners. This time, however, Bushells would be looking for a very different outcome.

It was Polonia Limerick who made the early breakthrough, with Aiden Hyland putting the Polish team ahead. The goal gave Polonia the advantage in a closely fought contest, with Bushells unable to find an immediate response. Polonia held on to their lead through to the interval, going into half-time 1–0 in front. Bushells Old Boys came out strongly after the restart and eventually got themselves back on level terms. Neil Morgan found the net to make it 1–1, setting up a tense finish with both teams now pushing for the decisive goal. Having seen their lead disappear, Polonia Limerick responded by stepping up their efforts in search of a winner.

That winner duly arrived when Lech Madejek struck to restore Polonia Limerick's lead. Bushells could not find another equaliser before the final whistle, leaving Polonia to celebrate a hard-fought 2–1 victory. After their convincing win over players representing Pork Vale in Barcelona last year, Polonia had once again come out on top, although this time they were made to work much harder for the result.

Tavria (Ukr) made their debut with us 12 months ago at the 2025 Barcelona Super Veterans. They were mightily impressive on debut with a 4-1 win against Los Amblos to kick-off. A narrow 2-1 defeat to Polonia Limerick followed before a 6-1 win over Hatfield and a 4-1 win over Pork Vale. They finished 2 nd in the table and qualified for the Cup. In the Cup Semi-Finals they met JK Silvertown and were held to a 0-0 draw. The match went to penalties but it was the English team who went through on spot kicks. Already they had collected their first win in Lloret de Mar. They were now up against AFV Valles Maresme (Spa) who were about to kick-off their tournament campaign.

The opening exchanges were evenly balanced, with neither team able to create the decisive breakthrough. The Spanish side and their Ukrainian opponents remained locked together throughout the first half, with the score 0–0 at the interval. Both teams continued to battle for control after the restart, but the game remained finely poised as the second half progressed. The breakthrough finally came when Geni Gonzalez Villa found the net for AFV Valles Maresme. It proved to be the crucial moment of the match, putting the Spanish side 1–0 ahead and leaving Tavria with a limited amount of time to find a response. Tavria pushed for an equaliser, but AFV Valles Maresme held firm.

Gonzalez Villa's goal ultimately proved enough to settle the contest, with AFV Valles Maresme securing a narrow 1–0 victory and handed Tavria their first defeat of the tournament.

The Warriors and Polonia Limerick renewed acquaintances at the 2026 Lloret de Mar Sevens, with the two sides having previously met in Porto in the 2024 edition. That encounter ended goalless, but there was to be no repeat of that stalemate in Lloret de Mar as Polonia Limerick quickly established themselves as the dominant side.

Polonia took the lead through Aidan Hyland, who continued his excellent start to the tournament by finding the net once again. Lech Madejek then doubled the Polish side's advantage, meaning both players had scored in consecutive matches. The Warriors were unable to find a response before the break, leaving Polonia firmly in control at 0–2 at half-time. The second half saw Polonia continue to dictate the contest as they looked to put the result beyond doubt. Their pressure was rewarded when Colm Hyland added a third goal, giving The Warriors an increasingly difficult task as they searched for a way back into the match.

There was no comeback from The Warriors, with Polonia Limerick seeing out the remainder of the game to secure an impressive 0–3 victory. The result continued Polonia's perfect start to the tournament, with Aidan Hyland and Lech Madejek both scoring for the second game running before Colm Hyland completed the scoring in the second half.

Bushells Old Boys and AFV Valles Maresme produced another closely fought encounter, with very little separating the two sides throughout the match. Both teams worked hard to gain the upper hand, but chances were at a premium as the contest developed into a tight battle.

With neither side able to establish a clear advantage, the game remained finely balanced for long periods. Bushells Old Boys looked to break through the Spanish defence, while AFV Valles Maresme remained disciplined and patient as they searched for an opening of their own. The decisive moment eventually arrived when Sergi Xena Ramon found the net for AFV Valles Maresme. His goal proved to be the difference between the sides, giving the Spanish team the narrow advantage they needed in what remained a tense and competitive encounter.

Bushells were unable to find an equaliser, meaning AFV Valles Maresme held on for a hard-earned 1–0 victory. The result also brought another clean sheet for Toni Figueiras Blanco, who kept his second shutout of the tournament as Valles Maresme secured another important group-stage win. The Spanish were joint top of the table but second on goal difference. Bushells Old Boys had now lost both games by the slenderest of margins, the odd goal.
