The
first final of the day was the Plate Final which
would decided the destination of the first trophy
of the day.
Both
teams had reached the final with 3 wins under
their belts. AON Top Guns went into the game as
marginal favourites with better goal difference
along the way and one less defeat due to a draw
in the group phase. They had also had the most
emphatic semi-final win and had scored 18 goals
in the last two games. The goals were flowing
and it was not long before they were scoring again.
Two
goals in the first half of the final from Laurence
Smith put AON Top Guns in charge. They were not
to have it all their own way as Tim Sleap scored
for Hays meaning he'd scored in both Hays first
and final games. The goal meant it was 2-1 at
half-time to the English team.
The
second half saw a great personal achievement for
Laurence Smith as he scored a third goal for AON
Top Guns to complete his hat-trick. The first
ever hat-trick in a eurofootballfives.com Plate
Final so congratulations. Marc Folkard scored
in the second half for Hays and at 3-2 we had
a game right up until the final whistle.
As
it turned out the sands of time ticked away with
no further addition to the scoreline. Tim had
run out on Hays chances of glory and at the final
whistle it was AON Top Guns who could raise their
hands aloft in glory. They came, they saw, they
conquered.
Silver
medals to our runners-up. Gold medals and a trophy
to our winners. Well done all.
