The 6th game in Group C saw top play joint second and as you would expect from a top of the table clash we saw a very close opening to the game. Even though the game was close goals were abundant and we saw five in the first half alone. SK Zelenec edged the scoring to reach half-time 3-2 up and hold the slight advantage. Michael Wheeler with both goals for Olympique de Johnny Lauren to add to his earlier hat-trick. Jiri Jindra and Petr Brejcha scored for SK Zelenec with their third goal an own goal from their opponents. Such a shame for the English team that they had yielded the advantage through an own goal.

As close as the first half was, it was not to be repeated in the second half. SK Zelenec extended their lead from 3-2 at half-time to 7-2 at half-time as they had just too much for their opponents. Jindra and Brejcha both scored their second of the game with other goals from Filip Esner and finally Radek Sulta. The result meant SK Zelenec jumped up to the top of the table.

Reading Royals and Harp Hospada were both without a point as they went into their thi rd game of the competition. That was obviously going to change in this game. A draw was not going to be of much interest for either team and so this match provided an opportunity to go flat out for a first victory of the tournament. Reading Royals went in as f avourites based upon goal difference and a very narrow defeat in their previous game. Harp Hospada had just had a demoralizing defeat at the hands of Lozenetz City .

They were heading for another defeat in this game when first of all Luke Napper and then Nick Brown found the net for the Reading Royals. A 2-0 lead at half time would be music to their ears. The music became deafening in the second half as a solid lead became a resounding victory. A second goal from Nick Brown, two goals for Martin Scott and the benefit of an own goal saw them not only pick up three points but vastly improve their goal difference. Harp Hospada were rock bottom of Group C.

Following two wins out of two Olympique de Johnny Lauren had come back down to earth with a bump when they came unstuck against SK Zelenec. In that game they lost top spot and in this game they were defending second place from Lozenetz City and the opportunity to go back to the top of Group C. The Bulgarians had just won 16-0 so they would face a team bang in form.

Lozenetz City's goalscoring juices were still flowing and they raced into a 5-0 lead at half-time. Alex Kyulev got the ball rolling before Ivan Stoianov made it two. When Hristo Kiosev made it 3-0 the game was over. Kyulev scored again for 4-0 and twice again in the second half. Vercislav Georgiev and Bojidar Gorchev also scored in the second half. The final score was 9-0. Lozenetz City were rampant and a team to be feared. The group phase was over from Olympique de Johnny Lauren and they were through to the Cup courtesy of their 3rd place finish.

Harp Hospada must have felt battered and bruised with 3 defeats. The last thing they needed was to face the team at the top of Group C – SK Zelenec. If they thought a 16-0 defeat to Lozenetz City was bad things were to get much worse. To keep track of the score in this game the referee needed all his fingers, all his toes and four more body parts. The final 24-0 score was the highest score eurofootballfives had seen in 15 tournaments and 516 games to date (yes, we counted them!) Another record was most goals in a game – that went to Jiri Jindra who scored 8! Incredible stat. The other goals went to Filip Esner (2), Michal Novak (7), Petr Brejcha (5), Radek Sulta and Alois Sebek.

Harp Hospada finished the group with an unenviable record of scoring once and conceding 54 in four games. SK Zelenec were top of the group but they could still be pipped to the post by Lozenetz City who had one game to play.

Lozenetz City would need to win their final game by 12 goals or more. In any other Group you would say that was impossible but the way the goals were flying in Group C you would quite believe it. Reading Royals stood in their way but did not protect their goal well enough as Lozenetz City were far from unlucky with a 13-0 win. Bojidar Gorchev scored the first four before an own goal helped them along the way. Alex Kyulev scored twice to make it 7-0 at half time. The second half was quieter with just the six goals – four from Vercislav Georgiev and two from Alexander Sharenkov.

What a group! SK Zelenec and Lozenetz City a cut above the rest and serious contenders for Goldsmith Williams title!
