The
first Plate Semi-Final paired The Vic FC against
Sheffield Thursday Blue in what looked an evenly
balanced contest. The Vic FC had earned a bye
through the quarter-final stage after finishing
third in Group C, giving them valuable time to
rest and recover ahead of the knockout rounds.
Their group campaign had produced two wins and
two defeats, including a solid 2-0 victory over
Sheffield Thursday Navy. Sheffield Thursday Blue,
meanwhile, had gathered momentum at exactly the
right time. After finishing fourth in Group B,
they stormed into the semi-finals with an emphatic
6-0 victory over Sutton on Tour and arrived full
of confidence.
With
a place in the Plate Final at stake, both teams
approached the game cautiously in the opening
stages. Chances were limited as the two defences
stayed compact and disciplined throughout the
first half. Sheffield Thursday Blue had shown
impressive attacking firepower in the previous
round, while The Vic FC had demonstrated resilience
and organisation throughout the day. Neither side
could find the crucial breakthrough before the
interval and the teams went into half-time locked
together at 0-0.
The
second half followed a similar pattern with both
teams battling hard but refusing to give anything
away defensively. However, despite the effort
and intensity from both sides, the deadlock remained
unbroken at full-time. A tense penalty shootout
would now decide which team progressed to the
Plate Final.
In
the shootout, The Vic FC held their nerve superbly.
Johnny Lappert confidently converted their first
penalty before Harry Bradford followed suit to
maintain their perfect record from the spot. Sheffield
Thursday Blue, by contrast, endured heartbreak.
Sam Morris and Daniel Easton, who had combined
for nine goals during the tournament, were both
unable to find the net from twelve yards. The
Vic FC emerged 2-0 winners on penalties and celebrated
a hard-fought route into the Plate Final after
a fiercely contested semi-final encounter.

The
second Plate Semi-Final brought together Morocco
Team and Sheffield Thursday Navy, with the prize
of a final against The Vic FC on the line. These
two sides had already met during the group stage
in a heated 1-1 draw that also featured two red
cards, a reminder of how competitive and occasionally
feisty their previous encounter had been. Sheffield
Thursday Navy arrived full of confidence after
finally securing their first win of the tournament
in the quarter-finals, while Morocco Team came
into the tie with two wins, one draw and two defeats,
having already shown they could be defensively
solid but occasionally lacking a cutting edge.
Morocco
Team started the brighter and struck first through
El Mehdi Bhougaba, who gave them a 1-0 lead in
the opening half with a composed finish. That
goal reflected their growing confidence in the
tournament, particularly in their ability to compete
against physically strong opposition. However,
Sheffield Thursday Navy responded well and showed
real character to fight back into the contest.
Cameron Robinson quickly drew them level at 1-1,
restoring parity and setting up a crucial spell
before half-time. The momentum then shifted further
in favour of the English side as Robinson struck
again, turning the game around to give Sheffield
Thursday Navy a 2-1 lead at the interval.
After
the break, Sheffield Thursday Navy continued to
build on their advantage and began to take control
of the tie. Benjamin Bratt extended the lead to
3-1, giving them breathing space and forcing Morocco
Team to chase the game. The Moroccans worked hard
but found it increasingly difficult to break down
a disciplined defensive unit, while Sheffield
Thursday Navy looked increasingly dangerous on
the counter. Cameron Robinson then capped off
a superb individual performance by completing
his hat-trick, making it 4-1 and effectively sealing
the result.
At
full-time, Sheffield Thursday Navy celebrated
a commanding 4-1 victory and secured their place
in the Plate Final against The Vic FC. It was
a performance built on resilience, attacking efficiency
and a standout display from Cameron Robinson,
whose three goals proved decisive.
