The
opening game of Group C saw The Vic FC take on
Wentworth Arms A in a rematch of the 2025 Amsterdam
Fives Plate Semi-Final. On that occasion, Wentworth
Arms had emerged victorious with a 2-0 win thanks
to goals from Liam O'Connell and Mike Wright.
They arrived in Mallorca hoping to continue that
positive record. Both teams would have been eager
to make a strong start to the tournament, knowing
how important early momentum can be in setting
the tone.
Wentworth
Arms A settled into the contest well and gradually
began to take control of proceedings. Their attacking
play carried a real threat, and it was Phil King
who made the breakthrough in the first half. His
goal gave Wentworth Arms the advantage and ensured
they went into the break with a 1-0 lead. The
Vic FC worked hard to remain in the contest and
defended resolutely at times, but they struggled
to create enough clear-cut opportunities against
an organised Wentworth Arms side.
The
second half followed a similar pattern, with Wentworth
Arms continuing to look dangerous going forward.
Phil King once again proved the difference-maker
as he added his second goal of the match to extend
the lead to 2-0. From there, Wentworth Arms managed
the game effectively, keeping possession well
and limiting opportunities for The Vic FC to mount
a comeback. Their defensive discipline ensured
there would be no route back into the game for
their opponents.
Wentworth
Arms A completed a solid 2-0 victory to begin
their Group C campaign in ideal fashion. A clean
sheet and two goals represented an excellent opening
performance and immediately placed them among
the early pace-setters in the group. For The Vic
FC, there was disappointment with the result,
but with plenty of football still to come in the
group stage, they would have opportunities to
respond and get their campaign back on track.

Game
two of Group C also brought together two teams
with previous history in our tournaments as
Ecuador 100% faced Sheffield Thursday Navy.
The sides had met at the 2024 Mallorca Fives,
where Ecuador 100% edged a very tight contest
1-0. This time around, however, the spectators
were treated to a much more open and attack-minded
encounter. Ecuador 100%, multiple winners of
this tournament, arrived looking to make another
strong statement of intent, while Sheffield
Thursday Navy were eager to test themselves
against the most decorated team in Mallorca
Fives history.
The
Ecuadorians wasted little time showing their
quality in front of goal. Estiven Lastra opened
the scoring before Jose Mosquera doubled the
advantage to put Ecuador 100% firmly in control.
Sheffield Thursday Navy did respond through
Lewis Bass, whose goal briefly reduced the deficit
and gave the English side hope of getting back
into the contest. Those hopes were quickly dented
again, however, as Xeiron Sanchez restored Ecuador
100%'s two-goal cushion before the interval.
At half-time, the South Americans led 3-1 and
looked dangerous every time they went forward.
The
second half saw Ecuador 100% continue in much
the same fashion. Their movement and attacking
combinations proved too much for Sheffield Thursday
Navy to contain over the course of the game.
Jose Mosquera added his second goal of the match
to make it 4-1 before Estiven Lastra also completed
his brace, wrapping up an emphatic 5-1 victory.
Sheffield Thursday Navy continued to battle
throughout and showed flashes of attacking intent,
but Ecuador 100%'s quality in the final third
ultimately proved decisive.
At
full-time, Ecuador 100% celebrated an impressive
opening victory and immediately underlined why
they are so often regarded as one of the teams
to beat in Mallorca. Five goals, spread across
several attacking players, demonstrated both
their firepower and depth going forward. For
Sheffield Thursday Navy, there were positives
to take despite the defeat, particularly the
willingness to keep competing against elite
opposition, and with more group games still
to come, they would look to bounce back quickly.

Game
3 of Group C introduced Morocco Team to the eurofootballfives
circuit as the debutants took on The Vic FC. The
English side had already begun their campaign
with a difficult opening fixture against Wentworth
Arms A, suffering a 2-0 defeat, so they arrived
determined to respond quickly and get points on
the board. For Morocco Team, meanwhile, this was
their very first taste of tournament football
in Mallorca, and there was plenty of anticipation
surrounding how they would perform on debut.
The
opening half proved to be a competitive and closely
fought affair, with both teams showing discipline
at the back and working hard to gain control in
midfield. Chances were limited during the early
exchanges, but The Vic FC gradually began to settle
into the game and looked the more threatening
side going forward. Their breakthrough eventually
arrived through Ross McGuigan, who had the honour
of scoring The Vic FC's first goal of the 2026
Mallorca Fives tournament. His strike gave the
English side a valuable 1-0 advantage heading
into the half-time interval.
In
the second half, Morocco Team pushed hard in search
of an equaliser and showed plenty of determination
in their first appearance at the tournament. The
Vic FC, however, defended resolutely and managed
the game well, limiting clear opportunities for
their opponents. Both goalkeepers and defensive
units performed strongly after the break, resulting
in a tense but goalless second half. While Morocco
Team continued to battle until the final whistle,
they could not find the breakthrough they needed.
At
full-time, The Vic FC secured a hard-earned 1-0
victory and picked up their first points of the
tournament. The clean sheet and disciplined performance
represented an ideal response after their opening
defeat, moving them firmly back into contention
in Group C. For Morocco Team, despite the disappointment
of defeat on debut, there were encouraging signs
to build upon, particularly in a match that remained
competitive throughout.

Game
4 of Group C brought together two early winners
as Wentworth Arms A faced Ecuador 100% in what
already looked like it could be a pivotal clash
in the race for top spot. At the 2024 Mallorca
Fives, Ecuador 100% had dismantled Wentworth Arms
B by an 8-0 scoreline, but this Wentworth Arms
A side had begun the 2026 edition in impressive
fashion with a 2-0 victory over The Vic FC. Ecuador
100%, meanwhile, had shown their attacking quality
immediately with a 5-1 win over Sheffield Thursday
Navy. With both sides entering the match full
of confidence, there was a real sense that this
contest could shape the outcome of Group C.
The
opening stages were lively and entertaining, with
Ecuador 100% striking first through Xeiron Sanchez.
Wentworth Arms A responded well and quickly found
themselves back on level terms thanks to the in-form
Phil King, whose third goal in two games continued
his excellent start to the tournament. The match
remained finely balanced for a period, but Ecuador's
attacking quality soon began to tell. Ivan Lee
restored their advantage before Jose Mosquera
added another goal to continue his own fine scoring
run. By the time the half-time whistle arrived,
Ecuador 100% had established a commanding 3-1
lead.
If
Wentworth Arms A had hopes of mounting a comeback
after the break, Ecuador 100% quickly extinguished
them. Xeiron Sanchez added another goal to further
extend the lead before Estiven Lastra took centre
stage in front of goal. Having already scored
earlier in the tournament, Lastra now exploded
into life with a superb hat-trick as Ecuador's
relentless attacking football overwhelmed the
English side. Their movement, pace and clinical
finishing proved too much to contain as the scoreline
stretched further and further away from Wentworth
Arms A.
At
full-time, Ecuador 100% emerged as emphatic 7-1
winners and moved to the top of the Group C standings.
Two matches had produced 12 goals for the Ecuadorians,
underlining once again why they are regarded as
the most decorated side in Mallorca Fives history.
For Wentworth Arms A, the result was a heavy setback
after such a positive opening performance, but
with more games still to come, they remained very
much in contention for qualification heading into
the second half of the group stage.

Game
5 of Group C saw Sheffield Thursday Navy take
on Morocco Team in a contest between two sides
still searching for their first points of the
tournament. Sheffield Thursday Navy had opened
with a difficult assignment against tournament
heavyweights Ecuador 100%, while Morocco Team
had produced a spirited performance despite narrowly
losing 1-0 to The Vic FC on debut. With plenty
of football still left to play in the group stage,
both teams knew this fixture represented an important
opportunity to kickstart their campaigns and build
momentum heading into the latter stages.
The
first half proved to be a fiercely competitive
encounter, with neither side willing to give an
inch. Morocco Team showed impressive organisation
and energy, while Sheffield Thursday Navy worked
hard to impose themselves physically on the game.
Chances were limited as both defences remained
disciplined and compact throughout the opening
period. As the half-time whistle sounded, the
teams remained locked at 0-0, a fair reflection
of an evenly balanced and hard-fought first half.
The
intensity only increased after the break, and
the contest eventually boiled over as both teams
were reduced to four men following a red card
apiece. Despite the dismissals, the game finally
sprang into life in front of goal. Morocco Team
struck first through Osama, whose finish gave
the debutants hope of claiming a memorable first
victory in the competition. Sheffield Thursday
Navy refused to fold, however, and they battled
their way back into the game through Sam Morris,
whose equaliser ensured the English side would
not leave empty-handed.
At
full-time, the sides shared the points following
a 1-1 draw, with both teams registering their
first points of the 2026 Mallorca Fives tournament.
While neither side could quite find the winning
goal, both showed resilience, determination and
defensive grit in what was one of the most physical
encounters of Group C so far. The result kept
qualification hopes alive for both teams as they
prepared for the decisive final rounds of group
fixtures.
