The
opening game in Group B saw Sheffield Thursday
Blue take on Eltham International in a meeting
between two teams who had both debuted at the
2024 edition of the Mallorca Fives. Although they
had not crossed paths in Mallorca twelve months
earlier, they did meet last year at the 2025 Porto
Tournament where Sheffield Thursday emerged with
a 2-0 victory. That result gave Sheffield Thursday
the psychological edge coming into this encounter,
but Eltham International arrived determined to
gain revenge on Mallorcan soil and begin their
campaign in strong fashion.
It
was Eltham International who made the sharper
start and quickly showed their attacking intent.
Stefano Chagas, who had finished as the top scorer
at the 2025 Porto Tournament with an impressive
eight goals, wasted little time in continuing
his prolific form. He opened the scoring to hand
Eltham International an early advantage and remained
the focal point of their attacking play throughout
the first half. Before the interval, Chagas struck
again to double both his personal tally and his
team's lead, giving Eltham International a commanding
2-0 advantage at half-time.
Sheffield
Thursday Blue responded positively after the break
and showed the resilience that had served them
well in previous tournaments. Joe Morris reduced
the deficit to 2-1 and suddenly gave the English
side renewed hope of mounting a comeback. For
a spell, the momentum appeared to swing in Sheffield
Thursday Blue's favour as they searched for an
equaliser. However, Eltham International continued
to look dangerous on the counterattack, particularly
through the clinical finishing of Stefano Chagas.
Any
hopes of a Sheffield Thursday Blue recovery were
ended when Chagas completed an excellent hat-trick
to restore Eltham International's two-goal cushion.
The final whistle confirmed a 3-1 victory for
Eltham International and an ideal start to their
Group B campaign. Chagas immediately threw his
name into the race for the tournament golden boot
once again, while Eltham International gained
early momentum in the battle for Cup qualification.
Sheffield Thursday Blue, meanwhile, would look
to regroup quickly with plenty of football still
left to play in the group stage.

Match
2 in Group B saw Spanish side Arenal take on
England's Riises Pieces in what promised to
be a closely contested encounter. For Riises
Pieces, this tournament marked their eighth
appearance at a eurofootballfives event and
their second visit to the Mallorca Fives following
their debut here in 2019. On that occasion,
they produced a memorable run to the Plate Final,
recording notable victories over Hellgarve Krakens
— now competing this weekend as RAF — as well
as Red Cow Belgrade before eventually finishing
runners-up to GHSFC. Having come so close to
silverware previously, the English side arrived
in Mallorca hoping this could finally be the
year they went one step further.
The
opening stages of the match reflected two evenly
matched teams feeling each other out carefully.
Chances were limited early on, with both sides
organised defensively and determined not to
make mistakes. It was Arenal who eventually
found the breakthrough in the first half when
Adrian Collado produced the decisive moment,
scoring the goal that separated the sides. The
Spanish team defended their advantage well for
the remainder of the opening period and went
into half-time leading 1-0.
The
second half continued in much the same fashion
with very little separating the two teams. Riises
Pieces pushed hard in search of an equaliser
and showed many of the qualities that had taken
them all the way to a European final in 2019.
However, Arenal remained disciplined at the
back and continued to frustrate their English
opponents. Despite the efforts from both teams,
clear-cut chances remained scarce and the contest
stayed finely balanced right until the final
whistle.
In
the end, Adrian Collado's first-half strike
proved decisive as Arenal secured a hard-earned
1-0 victory and an excellent start to their
Group B campaign. For Riises Pieces, defeat
was disappointing, but there were still plenty
of positives to take from a strong and competitive
performance against quality opposition. With
the group stage only just beginning, the English
side would remain confident that better results
were still to come.

The
third game in Group B took place on Pitch D as
Wentworth Arms B began their tournament against
Sheffield Thursday Blue. Wentworth Arms B were
finally getting their campaign underway and had
been eagerly awaiting their first opportunity
to take to the field. Sheffield Thursday Blue,
meanwhile, already had one game behind them after
suffering a 3-1 defeat to Eltham International
earlier in the day. The two teams had previous
history at the Mallorca Fives, having played out
a competitive 1-1 draw in the 2024 edition of
the tournament. This time, however, the contest
would unfold very differently.
From
the opening whistle, Sheffield Thursday Blue played
with real intensity and quickly seized control
of the match. Daniel Easton opened the scoring
to settle the side before Jack Hayes doubled the
advantage with a confident finish. Wentworth Arms
B struggled to contain the attacking movement
of their opponents, and before the interval Joe
Morris continued his excellent personal form by
scoring for the second consecutive game to make
it 3-0 at half-time. Sheffield Thursday Blue had
been clinical in front of goal and fully deserved
their commanding lead.
Wentworth
Arms B attempted to mount a response after the
break and briefly gave themselves hope when Mike
Wright reduced the deficit to 3-1 early in the
second half. For a short spell the game became
more competitive as Wentworth Arms pushed forward
in search of another goal. However, Sheffield
Thursday Blue quickly extinguished any hopes of
a comeback. Daniel Easton restored the three-goal
cushion at 4-1 before completing an impressive
hat-trick to make it 5-1. Jack Hayes then added
his second goal of the game to round off an emphatic
6-1 victory.
At
the final whistle, Sheffield Thursday Blue celebrated
a superb attacking display that lifted them onto
three points and into a three-way tie at the top
of Group B. After the disappointment of their
opening defeat, this was exactly the type of response
they would have wanted. For Wentworth Arms B,
meanwhile, it was a difficult introduction to
the tournament, but with several group games still
remaining there would still be plenty of opportunities
to bounce back and fight their way into qualification
contention.

Group
B action continued with an intriguing clash between
Eltham International of England and Spain's Arenal.
Eltham International had made an excellent start
to the tournament with victory in their opening
fixture and arrived in Mallorca carrying confidence
from their success at the 2025 Porto Tournament,
where they lifted the Plate trophy. Arenal, meanwhile,
had also impressed in their first outing, edging
past the spirited Riises Pieces by a single goal.
With both teams entering the match unbeaten, this
quickly took on the feel of an early top-of-the-table
showdown that could have a major impact on the
race to win Group B.
The
first half saw Arenal continue the disciplined
and effective football they had shown in their
opener. Defensively they remained solid, while
going forward they carried a constant threat.
Their pressure paid off when Fran Ruvuelta opened
the scoring to hand the Spanish side a deserved
lead. Eltham International attempted to respond,
but Arenal continued to control the key moments
of the match. Before the interval, Santi Soler
doubled the advantage to give the Spaniards a
commanding 2-0 lead at half-time.
Eltham
International searched for a route back into the
game during the second half, but Arenal's organisation
and composure remained impressive throughout.
The Spanish side continued to look dangerous whenever
they moved forward and effectively shut down the
attacking threat posed by the English team. Any
lingering hopes of an Eltham comeback disappeared
when Jose Gonzalez added a third goal to complete
an outstanding all-round performance from Arenal.
At
the final whistle, Arenal celebrated a superb
3-0 victory that maintained their perfect start
to the tournament. Having followed up a 1-0 win
with a 3-0 success, the Spanish side had now scored
four goals without conceding and firmly established
themselves as one of the early teams to watch
in Mallorca. For Eltham International, the defeat
represented a setback after their encouraging
opening victory, but with several matches still
to play they remained well positioned in the Group
B standings and very much in contention for qualification.

The
final game before the halfway stage of Group B
saw Riises Pieces take on Wentworth Arms B on
Pitch B. Riises Pieces had produced a solid display
in their opening fixture but came away empty-handed
after a narrow 1-0 defeat to current group leaders
Arenal. Wentworth Arms B, meanwhile, endured a
difficult start to the tournament after suffering
a heavy 6-1 loss against Sheffield Thursday Blue.
For both sides, this fixture represented an important
opportunity to bounce back from opening disappointment
and reignite their ambitions at the 2026 Mallorca
Fives.
It
was Riises Pieces who settled into the contest
quickest and began to dictate the flow of the
game. The standout player of the opening half
was Dan Willoughby, who proved clinical in front
of goal. He opened the scoring to give the English
side an early advantage and then struck again
before the break to double the lead. Wentworth
Arms B struggled to contain the attacking movement
of their opponents, and at half-time Riises Pieces
held a deserved 2-0 lead.
The
second half saw Riises Pieces continue their impressive
performance and build further momentum. Sam Thomas
extended the advantage to 3-0 as the pressure
on Wentworth Arms B intensified. Liam O'Doherty
then opened his personal account for the tournament
with another well-taken goal before Harry Bedford
completed the scoring to cap a dominant display.
Riises Pieces looked sharp throughout the second
period and fully deserved their comprehensive
5-0 victory.
At
the final whistle, Riises Pieces celebrated an
emphatic response to their opening defeat and
moved themselves right back into the qualification
picture. The victory lifted them into a share
of second place in the Group B standings, occupying
that position on goal difference and giving them
plenty of confidence heading into the remaining
fixtures. For Wentworth Arms B, meanwhile, it
was another disappointing result, leaving them
searching for answers as the group stage approached
its decisive phase.
